I guess the loss was bound to happen at some point. Time for Verlander and Scherzer to fuck shit up now

I'll be down there tomorrow...Verlander never seems to pitch well when I'm there.

Also has more home runs and almost as many RBIs as Babe Ruth...I mean Miguel Cabrera.IggyPride00;1617787 wrote:Brantley is the only guy in our line-up that can hit and they gave him something to hit. Kind of boggles the mind if you think about it.
It's only May 19th and Brantley is only 1 short of his career high in homers now.

Mr. Smooth gettin' it done in the clutch. Playing well over the next 2 games could give this team the lift they need....and the lift their fans are desperately seeking.

This team thrived off of these types of wins last season, often using them to start or continue 6 or 7 game winning streaks. Hopefully this is a bit of a jump start.
As amazing as Verlander is, he is just 18-14 lifetime vs the Tribe with an ERA over 4. In 36 career starts, the Tigers are only 19-17 in those games overall vs the Indians.

We have had a lot of success versus JV. I would venture the most of any team in baseball. Need to get to him tonight though, because Scherzer seems to own us.
Im excited to see what Bauer can do, but, its a tough spot for the kid to come into, which is nerveracking. Just hoping for 6 innings and keeping us in the game.

Al's control is terrible though, he has great stuff but he's just aiming in the zone and hoping to get missesIggyPride00;1617787 wrote:Brantley is the only guy in our line-up that can hit and they gave him something to hit. Kind of boggles the mind if you think about it.

We must have gotten to Scherzer right when he came to Detroit. I am seeing that he has a lifetime 4.44 ERA vs the Tribe in 15 career starts. He is 8-4. Strikeout to walk ratio is 91/36. So not total ownage ERA wise, but a 67% winning percentage and all those strikeouts. It sure seems that the last couple of years we have not been able to touch him.Laley23;1617893 wrote:We have had a lot of success versus JV. I would venture the most of any team in baseball. The Tribe optioned T.J House, Jose Ramirez, and Jesus Aguilar back to Columbus today as it recalled Trevor Bauer, activated Jason Giambi, and promoted Justin Sellers to the major league roster.

Bourn with a .284 OBP, weak for a lead off hitter.

Did we get him when he was playing for Arizona? I honestly dont remember us doing anything since he has been a Tiger lolTBone14;1617932 wrote:We must have gotten to Scherzer right when he came to Detroit. I guess you dont mess with a good thing, but, DAMNIT, I want to see what he can do full time now that he appears to be comfortable at the plate.vball10set;1617992 wrote:...and man is Brantley dialed in, and way to go Chiz!!!

Santana got thrown out trying to stretch an infield single into a double when Miggy trotted to the shallow OF to get the ball. I like the hustle, but damn, basses loaded with no outs right now if he had stayed at 1st after a Swish GRD and Gomes BB.

Yea that was very annoying. The ball wasn't far enough away for him to try that. Gotta use your brain

Id rather us play like that then have him loaf to first on a play like that and have Miggy recover and throw him out. Now, that would never happen on that given play, but something similar if the ball only went a few feet away.iclfan2;1618003 wrote:Yea that was very annoying. It took Miggy looking up and still making a perfect throw too get him.

Agreed. Especially with one of our youngsters on the mound. They have shown an uncanny ability to lose their mojo in a hurry and give up big innings.vball10set;1618007 wrote:Never enough runs-keep pouring it on!!!

That was a big wasted opportunity. Bourn and Cabby reach, Brantley with (sac) fly out, Chiz pop up and Murphy fly out. Couldve really used an extra run there.TBone14;1618052 wrote:Agreed. Indeed. And Avila leaves the yard and it is 5-2.Laley23;1618054 wrote:That was a big wasted opportunity. Bourn and Cabby reach, Brantley with (sac) fly out, Chiz pop up and Murphy fly out. Couldve really used an extra run there.
Had to laugh at Cabby pointing up like it was a routine fly. Damn thing flew about 415 feet.

Alex Avila probably has 17 hits this year. 15 of them have to be versus the Tribe.

Huge break for Bauer. What a throw by Brantley. Bauer is getting hit hard. Better get somebody up. I don't think he can get through the heart of this order again.

Brantley continue to be the best LFer in the game. What a great throw after fielding it with his footwork backwards for a throw to 2nd base.

Smooth Operator is our best defensive player too.
