So who were all the local player who got drafted this past weekend either from Ohio HS's or colleges:

Keith Wenning, Ravens 6th round. Record setting QB at Ball State and originally from Coldwater High School. Tremendous athlete who started just one year at QB in HS. Prior to starting as a QB he was playing some WR and defense for the Cavaliers and made some appearances in the State Finals. Many thought in his Jr year of HS he very well shoulda been the QB, but they had a returning starter, a tremendous athlete as well, who just let them to a state title the year before so pretty tough to supplant that kid. He most likely would have been recruited by more places if he had more time as a starter in HS.

Keith was a tremendous baseball player as well and teams were looking to draft him out of HS as well but he was all about FB. If the roles were reversed I think he woulda excelled on the diamond as well.
Absolutely great kid as well.

Excellent player. Alter and Borland battled with Wenning and Coldwater in a triple OT playoff game in HS and I think again in the playoffs that next season

Not surprising. The catholic schools were given the exception for kids when the TPS lost Libbey. Those kids had to
go somewhere, and Central is the obvious choice. They have become the premier athletic school in not just Toledo, but one of the best in Ohio.

Primarily for football, even though their other sports are pretty good as well...as far as the Catholics go, SJJ would the premier school for basketball, while both SJJ and SFS have bragging rights to both soccer and hockey.

CCHS is/was better in basketball for a few years, best team in Toledo when Loving, Hayes, Donnell and Brown were there. Sending guys to college (and others would've, but they went for football instead).

We we will see how they fare without this class next season.

Jim Welling does a helluva job over there, but as far as consistency year in and year out, along with sending kids on to play at the next level, Heintschel is king. Period.

I think it's more of the culture Dempsey has created. Central has became a factory while the other private schools coaches have ran their programs into the ground
