Collins had about 500 yds, Kenny Lowe had about 700, Gentry about 1200-1300
And Im pretty sure Ricksecker threw for 1000+

Funny someone mentioned Dale playing Quarterback as a freshman in '84...Ricksecker broke his jaw in a car wreck, and Greg Morris got his leg broke on a dirty hit 5+ yards out of bounds down at West Holmes. Dale came in and we went on to win that game and finished 6-3-1 that season.
Jeff and Les were so pissed off after seeing the late hit on tape that they vowed we would not renew the contract with West Holmes and we would never play them again as long as Bill Kjeremguard was their head coach.
So because of that late hit we went into the '85 season with only 9 games on our schedule. The week of our last scrimage against Tuscarawas CC we found out our athletic director had finally found us a game for week #2 to replace West Holmes. It was against Columbus Bishop Werhle. Werhle was well known then as a basketball school, but that season they were also picked as a co favorite in the Columbus Catholic league in football and had a couple D1 recruits.
We beat Werhle 21-0 in week #2....They went on to go 8-2 on the season, their only other loss was to eventual D3 champ Columbus DeSales. Those huge second level points carried us to Waynedales first ever playoff appearance, back when only 4 teams per region made it. And then we went on to win 2 playoff games and the regional championship, before losing in the state semi finals.
Greg Morris never played football again...although he was a member of our marching band in '85. But his broken leg in '84 paved the way for our playoff run in '85.
Funny how things work out.

Smithville - 29
Norwayne - 19
Waynedale - 48
Northwestern - 7
Chippewa - 35
Dalton - 7
No word on the Hillsdale-Rittman game yet, but I have a guess as to who won.

But seriously, why do Norwayne people (ie Paul, mostly) say "cow butt?" Nobody explained this to me.

Oh, I didn't expect YOU guys to be able to do it (heck, I'm right there with you). But I figured Norwayne fans might know of a translator or a Paul-whispering yogi.Go Falcons;1662471 wrote:Hillsdale 39 Rittman 18

Predictions...You shouldn't make them
Doty said. “We’re making some progress in what we’re doing. I feel good, even with Chippewa and the output they’ve had, that we can come in and hold them to 21 points or under.

Shouldn't make them? 35-7 is as close as a blowout you can get. Your thought after is it should of been closer. STFU, I shouldn't make them! You can't even get them close after the final!Red Rum;1662485 wrote:I was thinking more along the lines of this...

Wait, what?
I think he was referring to the fact that a coach (Doty) shouldn't make predictions in the newspaper.
Take a deep breath. It's all going to be okay.

Absolutely a bone headed move....with Chippewa coming off a big win over Waynedale, homecoming week, etc. It would have been very easy for the Chipps to come in unfocused and looking past Dalton. That idiotic statement really focused the team from what I was told. It was 35-7, but it was never really even that close. Now onto a big game with Smithville, who is playing some outstanding, hard-nosed football this year!Wcal observer;1662494 wrote:This certainly did! Copies ere given to every player! well now it Chippewa. and from the flim i have watched other then Mogadore they will be the best team we have faced all year.... IMO the smithies should be 6-1 on the year.. if it was not for a coaching fo pa in the hilsdale game....... right now the boys are playing there best football of the year... they are buying in to what the coaches are asking of them.... we picked op a SR that transferred back from Wooster and had to sit out the first 5 games.. and he really is making a different on defense and offense...... it should be a hard fought game friday.... i really have no idea how this one will turn out........
