Didn't know Hollins is anti analytics. Where did you see that? I'm curious, and would also like to know why. For someone who's built a career in data/analytics I'd love to hear why he doesn't like/find it useful.

Read anything about the rift between him and the Memphis FO, especially Hollinger.

After some reading, sounds like the FO traded Rudy Gay bc of Advanced Stats showing he wasn't a good player and Hollins wanted to keep him. I'm ok with a coach wanting to keep what he perceives to be his best player. Now how much that disagreement boiled over on to the court and how he handled the trade could be different.

Looks like the Cavs have offered the coaching job to David Blatt. Thoughts?

Sorry that I don't want a re-tread and I'd rather have a coach that everyone views as an up and comer and that another team actually wanted as well (regardless of whether it was for an assistant position).

Yeah I should have clarified he's not "anti-analytics" but from reading on it, it sounds like he wasn't a fan of how much the FO implemented them, and wanted him to implement them in his game plan.

Goes to show you that the FO was right, because they got better once Gay was gone and were once again a tough out in the playoffs.

Again you are trying too hard. The dude has no NBA experience. Sorry I am not going down on my knees for a hard ass coach (while our team consists of cry baby prima donnas) who has never coached in this country. The cavs didn't strike gold with their last two coaching hires, thus my comment.

Woj saying he's a good hire is enough for me. I'm pumpppppped. Parker + dion+ KI = solid core

Wiggins+irving(if he leaned how to play an oz of fucking defense) = solid core.

I'm still convinced there's plenty of moves to be made to our roster too.

For those who like Karasev, he played for Blatt when he coached Russia to a bronze in 2012.

From what the article says I think you could literally say the same thing about any coach. I think a forth grade rec coach would be a better offensive coach then Mike Brown.

If you read the article, you noticed the parts they use to describe any coach, "By all accounts, Blatt is an offensive mastermind." and "You would be hard pressed to find a coach more respected as an offensive innovator than David Blatt.."

Are you obsessed with him, because he is Jewish and coaches in Israel? LOL. I can use your re-tread argument and flip it back on you. I am sick of Cleveland teams in general hiring rookie project head coaches. Not to mention, there are PLENTY of "re-tread" coaches who have been hired and brought success to their teams. With your logic, the Mavericks should have never hired Rick Carlisle.

That bleacher report article makes him sound like a good coach and all, but sorry basketball (and most other sports) is not just X's and O's (I am also not going to jerk off to an article making him sound great. How many times have we seen these feel good stories for cleveland in the off season?). He has never dealt with NBA personalities. Not to mention the rules in the euro league are a bit different than they are in the NBA. The Euroleague tourney is practically a single elimination tourney. In the NBA you might have to play 7 games, and most of the times the coaches who make the best adjustments win those series. It is much tougher to make adjustments against a team that you have played for the 7th time in a row. Not to mention, it's kinda tough to get FAs without a credible coach. I am sure most NBA players are thinking "who the fuck is david blatt???"

I find it comical that you are appalled to the thought of anyone questioning the cavs hiring a guy who has no NBA experience. Give me one of those "re-tread" coaches who have had prior success any day of the week. Hell, I would take a seasoned NBA assistant over David Blatt. At least they know how the NBA operates. There is a reason why the other NBA team going after Blatt is trying to hire him as an ASSISTANT, not as their head coach.

He is rated BY FAR the best coach in Europe. Is the only coach to coach a non NA team to a victory against a NA team on their home soil. Has won 3 Euroleague titles. Is considered an offensive mastermind. And is not a retread coach that has already proven to have no ability to win. What is not to like? Who did you want? Gentry? Give me a break. Excuse Me, LhShelp, and 90% of Cavs fans for being excited about thinking outside the box and trying someone who we see with the potential to change the shitty culture we've developed with Retreads and shitty coaches/front office moves.

Someday, someone in NBA will have the vision to hire Russian national and Euro coach David Blatt. He's simply one of the best on the planet.

With that being said, I hope I am wrong and it's a great hire. I just don't see that happening. All bets are off if LeBron miraculously decides to come to Cleveland though.
