Just saw that it will likely be Greg Norman and Joe Buck heading up FOX's coverage.

I love the Shark. He is my all time favorite. But I think he is going to be awful in the booth. Not to mention that his accent is sometimes very hard to understand.

I think its more important who is on the holes and following the feature groups, to be honest.

Joe Buck as lead announcer for a major? Not good. I agree with others on this, NBC did a really good job with the U.S. Open, and I hate to see them lose it.
Fox will probably take that stupid football robot and animate it to swing a damn driver. Ugh.

I just don't care that much about the announcing.....they play and the coverage are where it's at for me. Every network has a couple of guys with heavy English accents or whatever.

Agree for the most part. But really bad announcing can ruin it for me and great announcing can add to the event tenfold.Ironman92;1605405 wrote:I just don't care that much about the announcing.....they play and the coverage are where it's at for me. Haha I can totally see that too. I think Joe Buck actually could be an awesome golf announcerFred Garvin;1605315 wrote:Joe Buck as lead announcer for a major? Not good. I agree with others on this, NBC did a really good job with the U.S. Open, and I hate to see them lose it.

Fox is just the worst. The graphics look like something from the early '90s and that football transformer thing is dumb as fuck. I stopped watching Fox football after Brett Favre retired. He was the channel's only saving grace.Fred Garvin;1605315 wrote:Joe Buck as lead announcer for a major? Not good. Fuck Joe Buck and fuck anyone who had a hand in this Fox deal happening.
Will be interesting to hear The Great White Shark in the booth, though. He was my Dad's favorite golfer and I remember following him many Sundays as a kid. Like Tom Watson in 2009, Norman staged one of the more memorable performances at the 2008 Open Championship. If I remember correctly, he held the lead heading into Sunday by two strokes and ended up in second or third. At 50+ and not having played a major in several years. Watson's loss in a playoff in '09 still stings for me, as he's probably my favorite golfer if I had choose one. That would've been the greatest performance in history IMO considering his age (almost 60 at the time).

Agree.....but I'm not going to say Buck or others won't be good until I hear it.....Look at Paul Keels, just kills it IMO for OSU and when he announced for the Reds....just terrible terrible.Laley23;1605418 wrote:Agree for the most part. Literally LOL'd at the thought of that. Gus Johnson makes any event better.reclegend22;1605231 wrote:Lol. No. It'd definitely be like the movie Happy Gilmore.
