I thought of this while watching Jeter take his first at bat in his last opening day in Yankee Stadium. So made me wonder what athletes I can't hate or maybe better said that I just can't root against(unless playing my team), that a lot of people don't like.
For me:
Derek Jeter
Peyton Manning
Lebron (though not completely true because for 1 year I definitely hated him, but I'm over that)
Josh Hamilton (this may be more so just because I don't want to see him go back to old habits)
Cristiano Ronaldo

I would have to go with Manning, even though I hated him in college.
I used to hate Tebow in college as well....probably for the media hype and it got bad when he was in the NFL as well, and the guy is a shitty QB, but he seems to live the right way, and many praise and love many athletes who are bad people so he stands out as one of the good guys.

I feel the same. He's an asshole, but he's one of the players that I will go out of my way to watch.

As much as most Duke fans -- and many college fans in general -- hated the guy, I just never could. He just seemed real and played as hard and with as much passion as any player I've ever seen. One of the best, if not the best ever at Maryland under Gary Williams.
