Yeah, the Sportschampps example he gave reminded me way too much of athletes (or famous people in general) with how he should be in jail or rehab, but his parents enable him and the courts just give him slaps on the wrist. It's just like when a famous musician, actor, athlete, whatever gets some hilariously reduced sentence and all you can do is get pissed off because you know if you did the same thing, you'll be seeing hard time. Except in this case, it's a regular guy down the street who, due to unfortunate circumstances, is the same sort of trainwreck as the junkies law enforcement types crow about putting behind bars.DeyDurkie5;1600597 wrote:I've met someone with it. It sucks. But the family, friends, judge, etc shouldve realized the severity of it and not enabled him. We give way too many excuses for service men in this country. Same for athletes too

The war doesn't stop when the boots hit the ground back home. Not a defense for the shooter, because in my mind, even though military hospitals are shit, there is no excuse.

Durkie will never side with a soldier on anything, and in this case I agree. But dude has hate for the military. Not sure why.

I don't hate the military. That's just dumb. I hate the countless individuals who use being in the military as an excuse to get special treatment or get admiration for what they do. 90% of them haven't even seem action but yet they parade around wanting everyone to admire them. It's bullshit.Midstate01;1600646 wrote:Durkie will never side with a soldier on anything, and in this case I agree. But dude has hate for the military. Not sure why.

Where are you located that you see 90% of them do this. I think you're a moron for coming up with some terrible percentage. Like me saying 99% of America would use an offered discount.
My wife will never ask if someone has a military discount. But if they ask "are you military?" She doesn't say no. Either would anyone if there was a discount offered to them.
You have to have been butthurt from something in the past.

What I wouldn't give to have just three days in a combat zone with Durkie just one position move and two nights of ambush with the hope popping one ambush....DeyDurkie5;1600658 wrote:Lol i would say you are more butt hurt than I am. My opinion is my opinion. sorry you don't like it

Likely in the same area where they don't "seem action."

The problem is most soldiers live such destructive lifestyles they're fucked in the head. Not all but the ones without family to kind of keep them grounded are usually pretty crazy

And it could have ended in the first 10 seconds. If someone wants wants to go on a death wish, shooting rampage, they're going to do it anyway, regardless of whether guns are banned on base.HighRoller74;1600733 wrote:So it can be easier for this type of thing to happen?

this morning let the dogs out, I stepped on to my patio looked out over the back yard at the tree line somewhat hidden by fog and the shadows of their shapes. The dampness in the air, wet grass and coolness of the morning remind me of many years back but still lingers in my mind as another morning breaks after a long night of an ambush.

I'd much rather it happen once every so often, than it happen monthly because someone on base can't hold their liquor.TedSheckler;1600755 wrote:And it could have ended in the first 10 seconds. I'm not against the higher ranks on base and MP carrying, but to let every solider carry is just setting this up to happen more and more often.

Agreed. Expecially right now as they continue to foreshape and let more and more people go. Or incidents like the govt shutdown where some young troops panic because they may not get paid and they already make next to nothing. Add in the fact that suicide rates are higher than ever and I just don't think that'd be a very good idea.HighRoller74;1600990 wrote:I'd much rather it happen once every so often, rather it happen monthly because someone on base can't hold their liquor.
