The worst thing about "destination weddings" is calling them "destination weddings." Ugh.

If you have the option of attending both then this thread is really stupid.

Wife and I got married at Aventura Spa Palace in Mexico. We did an 8 day 7 night package and had 18 guests with us (9 couples) w/avg cost 3k per couple. My package including wedding was 3800. What a great vacation we had. One of my groomsman is getting married back in Fl in May. I'm best man and my wife is a bridesmaid. After gift and travel, suit rental, dress, bachelor party, etc I'm looking between 2-3k just for a week back in Fl so compare that to a destination spot.

I don't care who it is, I wouldn't pay anywhere near $3k to watch someone get married.

Florida is a destination spot to most of the country.

3k per couple.

I paid 1300. Flight, hotel, food, booze. 7 days. You can't really get a better deal than that.

Yeah, I think my trip was around $1300 or so total as well. Seven days, four stops...and a fantastic vacation with almost all of my closest friends. There were almost 30 of us who actually stayed on the boat for the trip and 20 or so more who were just there for the ceremony/reception. It was the best time ever. I like to take one good vacation a year, so to me it was not a big deal for that to be the one. I actually preferred it that way since so many of us went. Can't think of another time when we will all take a trip like that again.

Fuck that noise. All I will spend to go to a wedding is $35 for a toaster to give as a gift.

Heck, destination weddings sound much better than paying for a $6,000+ bar bill like we had at our wedding.

He won't leave small town Ohio. Let alone go somewhere on vacation. Probably would miss his cat too much.

Can't imagine traveling thousands of miles to make someone feel more important than they actually are.

Honestly, I would be embarrassed to ask anyone to pay that kind of money to attend my wedding. The only way I would have a wedding like this, is if I could afford to pay for the people's trip....which I can't.

If you have a destination wedding do everyone a favor and have transportation, hotel rooms, transfers, all set up through a travel agency so people can look at the package and decide if they have the resources to attend your wedding. Make it easy for them so that all they have to do is call the travel agent and everything is arranged.

No, I didn't. It's not a vacation on my terms. The date and location is already chosen by someone else. If I'm going to sink that money into something, I'd much rather it be on my terms.

also, this:

If you don't like the terms, then you don't go. Simple concept.
