And you just highlighted why Kansas is a maddening and difficult team to predict. Pretty consistently a bracket "swing pick", meaning Kansas can make or break you.
NC in 2010, EE last year. Other than that, you have to go back to 03-04 to get past the Sweet 16.

Compare that to Wichita potentially having to go thru UK, Lousiville, and Michigan. Heck, the #2 seed in their very own region had the easier draw.

GaryParrishCBS Just back from KU’s locker room. Joel Embiid told me he would’ve definitely played in Sweet 16. Now he might never play college ball again.

Man I'm going to miss Embiid. Wiggins, adios. If Selden leaves, I won't miss him, he's not very good (Although he could be very good next year with an offseason under his belt).

But Embiid..loved him and sad we won't see him at the collegiate level ever again.

Yeah, WCS plays absolutely great team ball. But as well as they played, they are only up 6. Not to say they can't keep it up, but we'll see if they open the door and if UK can overcome its lack of experience to take advantage.
