While at some point these families need to move on and begin the grieving process, I believe it should have happened in a more appropriate manner. Let's be real here. Malaysian Parliament made the announcement that all lives were lost not out of human decency to the families, but to get the families out of Kuala Lumpur and, more importantly, out of the media spotlight. Because the longer those families are there, the worse it looks for Malaysia.
Note I agree that everyone is probably dead.

Malaysians report they have found 123 new objects floating in search area. Some analysts are saying it now looks like a flock of seagulls. Lol at Malaysia.
It very well could be plane parts (another explanation is drifting trash, as that part of the Indian is notorious for being a "water garbage dump", but this whole thing is an absolute nightmare for Malaysia. It's no wonder they are in a race against time to get this out of the world spotlight. Either one of their esteemed airman nefariously took the plane on a joy ride to the middle of the ocean to kill everyone on board, or there was a major failure in national security and one of their 777s was hijacked.

Not sure about the same place. That part of the Indian is especially treacherous water, some of the most dangerous waters of anywhere on the planet. He is saying the debris would be together, in the same place. I see how what I said could be interpreted as you did. I'm the one who caused the confusion. It was meant to answer ccrunner (a mistake, I know) who seemed to indicate that it was strange that so many pieces of the debris would be together. It seems like now that they've focused dozens of satellites on a narrowed area of maybe 1000sq miles that they are finding a lot of potential debris.
The question is when are they actually going to get their hands on any of the debris they've pegged with satellites? Doesn't seem like they've even been able to spot any with planes. Even with a couple days lag they have a pretty good idea where to look for debris found in a satellite photo

Why is it shocking that they are focused on the correct area and now finding debris? For three weeks they were looking in the wrong areas.

I can see how this search is very tough. It takes HOURS for planes to get there, and can only stay there for 2 hours before leaving, and the ocean is nasty out there.
I would not be surprised if they never find the stuff they really need.

That's what I wondered as well. Also no bird expert, but I'm not sure how many trans-oceanic flights seagulls often go on. This was something a CNN expert said, so I probably should've clarified.
