I was just searching for this the other day and it appears no, they're not.

Read the particulars of AD's deal and only like 17 million is guarenteed. For him to get all this money he needs to get to the playoffs every year, win a super bowl and meet other benchmarks.
If the Bengals win the SB and actually gets all that $$ I don think bengal fans would have much to complain about.

He is definitely a little annoying. But I love his analysis and the stories he tells from his playing/coaching days.

Sportscenter leading off the hour with Rams - Saints highlights in which they show how Michael Sam did on about every down he played. Then post-conference highlights of Fisher discussing him. So ridiculous.

Not headline worthy?

4% of the population is gay and he's the first openly gay player in the country's most popular sport. He's producing strong reactions, both positive and negative from a large number of people. What more noteworthy stories are there from a Rams-Saints preseason game?

Nothing against gays but this is why I pretty much just flip over to catch the top 10 at the end of the show....if I watch at all.

Anything that has nothing to do with a late round pick fighting to stay on the team.

And Manziel is receiving more coverage than all the other guys drafted ahead of him combined. The media isn't beholden to covering people based on their draft order, they weigh coverage based on public interest. Sorry.

I'm not sure ESPN has to worry about public interest. There really isn't a competitor comparable to them.

I would say their concern for public interest is strongly related to their position in the market.

Yeah and I think the coverage for him is ridiculous too. Doesn't really help your argument for a late round pick getting an unwarranted amount of coverage. At least manziel is a first round pick with a heisman.

You're right. They obviously do a lot of things right. Maybe to the point where they've established such a dominance in covering national sports that they can afford to exaggerate some topics. Perhaps ESPN has the data to prove otherwise, but I'd guess the common opinion of Michael Sam is mostly apathetic.

I'd suggest you search "Michael Sam" on twitter sometime. For normal people the opinion is positive/apathetic, but a decent chunk of this country still hates them some gays.
