Nobody gave a fuck about the Heisman this year...completely lost in all the playoff rhetoric.

Only because has been a foregone conclusion for most of the year.

This...there was no drama, no controversy, so therefore no one was paying attention to it. That being said, Mariota's winning it was just what the Heisman Foundation needed, especially after Newton, Manziel & Winston.

...and Reggie Bush, Tim Tebow and Ricky Williams.

Mariota deserved it, but yes, there was no drama. I would've been more interested in the drama if Winston would've had a very good season and his team was unbeaten. You know they would've done anything imaginable to not give it to him. Just like they did in the 2nd run for Tebow and Manziel.

Mariota might be one of the best college QBs ever honestly. His numbers are ridiculous, his worst passing year was 32/6 and in the year he won it all threw for almost 4000 yards, scoring 38 thru the air, rushing for 14, and catching another one while only throwing 2 picks

Agreed Vball - two Thuggers and a Turd - didn't exactly bring a shine to the trophy.

Didn't Auburn have another player shot a couple years ago?

Good point. However I believe Gordon deserved it more than Mariota.

Gordon was a lock until he did nothing against OSU. That game didn't just limit his stats, it showed exactly why he did what he did. Wisconsin can't pass. His numbers outside of that lasting impression game were as good as anyone has posted in almost a decade.

Mariota doesn't get almost 91% simply because Gordon fucked up. Mariota has had this award clinched since mid October, barring his poor performance or injury.

This. Gordon was never anything close to a lock.

Smh buike..come on. Mariota has been favored most of the year. After the record breaking game gordon made a huge jump (as he should) but even then he wasn't a lock.

So, you're telling me if Melvin Gordon would've had 2600 yards and 30+ touchdowns, he doesn't win? I don't necessarily disagree with you guys, but those would've been tough numbers to deny. Nobody else has ever topped them...

It would've taken Mariota faulting.

Yep, he was the leader all year. Similar to preseason rankings, he would've had to falter at some point to be over taken, barring someone completely wrecking the league.

The Auburn kid that got shot was killed in the same apartment complex that two other former Auburn players were shot and killed in 2012. Wonder if the name of the place is Thugger Arms?

Mariota had 38/2 for 3,783 yards passing and rolled up 669 yards rushing for 14 TD's and caught another. He did all of this against a schedule which had 5 ranked teams on it while Gordon only faced 3 and was shut down by the only top 10 team he faced

But he won it before the season. That's how the Heisman works.
