Same. Anytime I think I want/need something that is expensive, I hold off for a week and see if I still want it. Pretty much how I do things. I honestly can't think of anything I've bought recently that I have any regrets over. As dlazz said, if I'm spending a large amount of money. I'm reviewing and testing the shit out of it.

Agreed. I don't really buy anything big. I've only bought one TV in my life, and I needed the few computers I bought. I can agree with both of those. I tend to be frugal to a fault with the occasional binge purchase. Which goes to the bar tabs. One of my friends is in a local band and whenever I go to see them, I wind up spending about as much money in one night of drinking as I would in 2 weeks or so of just going to hang out with friends 2-3 nights a week.

I dumped a few grand into a Honda fucking Civic during highschool.

I don't buy anything unless its a instrument designed to make myself more money or if it allows me to easily get into the pants of women. I've found out it only takes about $30(about 3 drinks in DC) to accomplish this. Honestly, I could probably just show them my bank account and it would accomplish the same thing.
