Kansas City is unbeatable if he plays like this. But at some point he'll revert to game managing them out of the playoffs.

Remember when BR was adamant about the Browns not signing Alex Smith because he's a game manager who can't play in a vertical offense? lol

I've never understood all the hate for Smith. I've always said that the 49ers should have kept him as the starter. Would be awesome to see a Chiefs/49ers super bowl and the Chiefs get the win.

I don't really disagree with this. I mean on one hand there's no way the 49ers should have paid what the Chiefs paid to keep him around (because of Kaep), but at the same time it's not like Alex Smith lost his job because of poor performance and he was actually playing pretty damn well.

Alex Smith proving he can play in the playoffs too. Good for him. I actually know one of his sisters. She lives in DC and is mutual friends with some of my friends. If you can picture Alex smith at about 5'6 with long hair, that is pretty much what she looks like.

Harbaugh went with the hot hand and it pretty much worked out except for the last game of the year. Add that to what you just said (regarding paying him) and the fact Kap is much younger. I would say Kap was the no brainer move.

Tied for 29th (with Brandon Weeden) among qualifying players in the NFL yards/attempt. That's dead last. He's absolutely a game manager.

He makes fewer mistakes than just about any QB in the league, and fewer big plays than just about any QB in the league.

Yeah still not convinced he would lead the browns to the playoffs. NOW, if Andy Reid was the coach, that would be a different story.

That's where the huge fail is IMO. Everyone who wrote off Andy Reid as if he was a bad coach.

KC lost 5 of their last 7 games and their play-off position pretty much reflects what they earned in their 1st 9 games. So far today, it just shows how the play-offs are virtually a new season!

He's been making plays all game..perhaps he just doesn't really need to make plays week in and week out?

He's obviously showing in this game he can a) make plays and b) be a vertical passing threat

You can't really measure he yards/attempt when Smith plays in the offensive that probably runs more screens then any other in the NFL. Stats are not all created equal.

Cue the "Luck can not play in the big games" discussion that will slowly but surely get worse by the year.

I couldn't care less about yards per attempt, or vertically passing percentage. Does your QB make costly mistakes? Does he put you in a position to win consistently?

I already said if he plays like this the Chiefs are unbeatable. This game is an exception to the rule of his career.

Luck and the colts just haven't been the same without Reggie Wayne.

I think Shepard had to "re-grip" the ball just after going OB and it should be KC ball.

I don't think he had that. Not enough to overturn, though.

Smith is almost making enough plays with his feet to yield a spy on defense. He has killed them running and keeping plays alive.

As do yards per attempt.....one bomb a game would move him well up the list.

Smith may be near Weeden in YPA.....but Weeden is dead last in completion %.....

As for YPA....Smith is less than a 1/2 yard from Tom Brady

Should've been a TD the other way lol
