Site licenses get cheaper the more you buy, like virtually everything else in the world.

The people who get screwed the most on Microsoft pricing are small businesses since they usually don't buy enough to knock the per-user license cost down.

If your company is anything like mine, contact the IT dept and they'll send you instructions on how to buy it discounted. Most of the time when the IT dept buys X amount of licenses, they are granted another X amount of home-use licenses. These are the steep-discounts that most companies offer.

Microsoft would much rather you pay $10-15 for their software than to pirate it.

Also, Microsoft provides Office to non-profits (that aren't schools) for free.
