Is this the best free program to do some basic word processing, spreadsheets, and flyers? If not, what else is out there that is good?

Open office is alright if you need to do offline editing.

It basically all boils down to MS Office being superior.

LibreOffice is better than OpenOffice. http://www.libreoffice.org/

OpenOffice has sort of stagnated.

I laugh my ass off at Apple's attempt at the office suite. They completely change nearly EVERYTHING, just so they can differentiate themselves from Microsoft. In my opinion, the Office suite should be universal... and Microsoft Office should be CHEAP... but it's not. :(

Unlike Apple products, Microsoft products are very affordable if you know where to look.

Definitely in an education setting.

You can always find Office discounted at a place of education.

Especially in an education setting. My wife bought a copy of Office for Mac through school and it was $11.

If you have an iCloud account, Apple's new iWork suite through the browser is about the same as all the other shitty free solutions.

None are even close to MS Office.

Why don't you just tell everyone where to look, instead of just repeating yourself?

Not to be a dick ETB but if you were having difficulty selecting a tv and streaming box to purchase why are you in charge of site licenses for software somewhere?

I'm not.

Also, asking for opinions =/= difficulty.

Not that my post was very funny but it would have been even less so if I didn't pretend asking for opinions = difficulty.
