Prisoners was pretty good, but I thought the directing was just awful and they just didn't make a very good film out of a plot that had a lot of potential and a great cast.

With Love and Other Drugs/Brokeback Mountain being very good films, that just don't appeal to me. But I can step back and realize he was very good in both and both were very well done.

They really are good movies. End of Watch was good, too.

On that note, while i don't follow his career so i can't say for sure if this is true, but hasn't RDJ basically been playing some version Tony Stark in just about every movie he's been in since like 2007? I'm talking Due Date, Zodiac, The Soloist, The Judge, Sherlock Holmes. I haven't seen Chef, but Tropic Thunder is about the only movie where he doesn't have that arrogant, "smartest guy in the room" persona. And I'm not doggin' it, I like most of those movies. I just hadn't really thought about it until RDI said it.

I had super low expectations for the judge. I'd never heard of it and only rented it because my brother-in-law said it was good and he wanted to watch it with me. (He has questionable movie taste) He did warn me that it was slow but that was all I knew about it going in. I would give it a 7 or maybe even an 8/10. I thought it was a slightly different character for RDJ, because even though he was a cocky asshole who got all the girls (ew), he actually didn't have all the answers and everything didn't go his way.

I like his action/drama type movies. Panic room and Phone booth I thought were good flicks.

Southpaw is definitely depressing as fuck for a solid 2/3 of the movie, but I did like it overall. I thought Jakey was great, and the other actors were good as well. I'd say 6.5-7/10

Saw a screener of Pixels. 2/10.

Finally watched Lone Survivor the other night, maybe a 6/10. I'll admit reading the book first hurt my view of the movie. It was so singular in it only being basically a straight fight scene for the entire movie. I would have liked them to show what was happening back home a little bit with his family, and all the military personal who gathered at his parents ranch.

gosh a ruddies, watching "Train Wreck" can get you killed.

Ant-Man	B-	Nothing flashy. Not Marvel's best. Enjoyed the 'phasing' - shrinking and re-sizing special effects. Paul Rudd was just ok. Normally a big fan of Rudd, but IMO he didn’t really do anything special that no other actor could have done. There were two end-scenes, so recommend staying all the ay to the very end of the credits. The guy who stole the show was probably Corey Stoll. That guy is turning out to be quite the actor. Evangeline Lilly was also nice on the eyes.
Trainwreck	B	Amy Schumer can be hilarious, and while she was in this film, I felt like it wasn't consistent enough. Felt like there were definitely some slow parts where I would have liked to have seen more from Schumer. Say what you will about females & males… but this was just yet again another example (IMO) where female leads just can't/don't seem to carry a film quite like a male lead can/does. The best scenes of the movie were: the sex scene w/ John Cena and the scene between LeBron and Hader, where LeBron is selling Cleveland hard. As a fanboy of Cleveland myself, it was nice seeing Cleveland getting some love and respect. As much as I felt the film ended abruptly, I did like the dancing scene Schumer put on. Normally I hate stuff like that, but I thought Schumer pulled it off because 1) it was actually kinda good (she actually made it look sexy) but 2) she wasn't 'perfect' and she highlighted her flaws. I thought LeBron did great for his first big-screen appearance. The scene with him and Bill Hader playing in the gym was hilarious. Loved LeBron taking it all serious - swatting Hader's shots left & right. And then loved Hader getting one bucket and then quitting the game. That was golden. I know I might take some heat for this, but I thought Brie Larson - from an acting standpoint - stole the show. She was the best "actor" in the film. Sure she didnt have that much on-screen time, but she came across the smoothest / least jittery. Hader was probably 2nd. Also... love my girl Vanessa Bayer. She just nails that 'awkward girl' role so well. It was also pretty cool seeing cameos by Tim Meadows, Leslie Jones (her cameo was the best) and Pete Davidson.

Ant-man 7/10. Very good Marvel movie. It was a low-budget for Marvel standards and I think the action and special effects were really good.

I agree with just about everything except the female can't carry a lead part. There are some funny female lead roles, but I'm not going to get into a feminist debate. To each their own.

Sure, females can lead and there are plenty of good movies where a female is the lead, but what I'm trying to say is... you take the BEST female (idk... is that Jennifer Lawrence?) and put her up against a Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Daniel Day-Lewis, Bradley Cooper, Denzel Washington, Matthew McConaughey, Joaquin Phoenix,

Look at the recent 'Best Picture' winners...

12 Years a Slave - male lead
Argo - male lead
The Artist - 50/50
The King's Speech - male lead
The Hurt Locker - male lead
Slumdog Millionaire - male lea
No Country for Old Men - male lead

Now... some of you may be saying, "Well those are Academy Award winners... this wasn't that... this was a simple comedy."

Okay... for every Amy Schumer, I give you Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, Jonah Hill, Jim Carrey.

Again... there are plenty of good female leads and plenty of good female lead-films... I just feel if you were to do a comparison, it's not even close... And I think Trainwreck was evidence of that, and it's disappointing because I was hoping it could buck the trend (ala Bridesmaids)
