Sure, females can lead and there are plenty of good movies where a female is the lead, but what I'm trying to say is... you take the BEST female (idk... is that Jennifer Lawrence?) and put her up against a Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Daniel Day-Lewis, Bradley Cooper, Denzel Washington, Matthew McConaughey, Joaquin Phoenix,
This is a joke, right? You're joking? MERYL STREEP never crossed your mind!? Don't get me wrong, J Law is a great actress. But Meryl Streep is the clear choice. Some other phenomenal actresses who can more than carry a film: Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Kate Winslet, Hilary Swank...

Meryl Streep of course came to mind. I didn't name her, because she's older. (Just like I didn't name De Niro and Al Pacino).

Idk... IMO... Lawrence runs circles around Blanchett, Moore, Mirren, Theron, Winslet, and Swank (and none of those ladies, except for maybe Larence, are in the realm of even being close to DiCaprio, Bale, DDL or Cooper IMO).

Idk... consider me an arrogant prick, I suppose, but that's just my god's honest opinion.

Look at the recent 'Best Picture' winners...
Birdman - male lead
12 Years a Slave - male lead
Argo - male lead
The Artist - 50/50
The King's Speech - male lead
The Hurt Locker - male lead
Slumdog Millionaire - male lea
No Country for Old Men - male lead

Now... some of you may be saying, "Well those are Academy Award winners... this wasn't that... this was a simple comedy."

Okay... for every Amy Schumer, I give you Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis, Jonah Hill, Jim Carrey.

Again... there are plenty of good female leads and plenty of good female lead-films... I just feel if you were to do a comparison, it's not even close... And I think Trainwreck was evidence of that, and it's disappointing because I was hoping it good buck the trend (ala Bridesmaids)
I suppose. I just wasn't expecting a comedy filled with dick jokes to actually have any substance. Personally, I don't buy into the whole male lead v female lead argument. I just watch movies that are entertaining to me, regardless of who's the lead.

I'll let you and Fab have this debate haha

It was hilarious. But there were definitely "slower moments"...

Ant Man 8/10 (Loved that they stuck to the source material and it was different from all Marvel movies which was nice for a change.)

As soon as Deadpool comes out though, that'll be different from every comic book movie ever made. As long as they stick to the R rating.

I pray Deadpool sticks to the R rating. If they do, it could be spectacular.

It has to be R. You can't make a Deadpool movie with it being PG-13.

It gets even better the second time. The first time through, I loved it, but it seemed like the plot was only heavy enough to justify a gratuitous portion of violence (not that there's inherently anything wrong with that, if that's what someone wants).

However, the cohesiveness of the plot is better seen the second time through. At least it was for me.

Finally got around to watching Dallas Buyers Club.....wayyy late to the party.

Amazing flick. 9/10. I'd give it a 10, but I felt the ending was meh, kinda fizzled out. I'm not sure how they could have ended it better though. I'm ready to say McConaughey is the best in the game right now. He and Ledo both killed it.

I watched Birdman for the first time last night.
Oh my god what an AWFUL film.
Biggest waste of 2 hours.
If I wasn't the cheap bastard that I am, I would have turned it off and called it a night.
Literally THE only reason that kept me watching was the pure speculation of how this god awful trainwreck of a film would end.
I get it... it deserves a lot of credit for how it was all produced & put together and seemingly coming off as 1 continuous shot.
But that doesn't make up for what a god awful film it was.
It reminded me of a Black Swan a lot; except I actually liked Black Swan.
Black Swan swims circles around Birdman.
Black Swan is EASILY 1000x better than Birdman.
I literally wanted to take forks and stick them in my eyes I thought Birdman was so bad.
F - / 0.5 out of 10. The only reason I'm giving it a .5 is because of the stitching to make it come off as 1 continuous shot.
I'm literally struggling to come up with a film that I loathed more than Birman... and I can't come up with a single 1 off the top of my head.
