Just saw Warm Bodies on free VOD. 5/10 for mindless entertainment, and thank god I didn't spend $$$ to see it.

Runner Runner...4/10. Plot was weak, and underdeveloped at that.

I actually didn't mind the pacing of The Place Beyond the Pines at all. The acting was superb, especially Ben Mendelsohn as Ryan Gosling's partner in crime. Dane DeHaan, in the role of Luke Glanton's son, was also exceptional. The kid can fucking act.

Those who do not particularly like the film typically cite the drawn-out plot, but to me that was the intention of the director. It was crafted as a sprawling American epic in the vein of a Legends of the Fall and other such films. I thought it was really well done in that respect. The score was awesome, and featured a song by witch house group Salem, who are fucking great.

I'd give it a solid 9 out of 10. I like films that veer off the mainstream trail, though. This was definitely not your typical, go-to-the-movies flick. While I loved it, I get why people who originally saw it in the theaters hated it.

Have you checked out Kings of Summer yet? Also, I think you'd like The Way, Way Back(Steve Carell in a Little Miss Sunshine type movie), and The Spectacular Now. They're all kind of teenage coming of age movies, but really well done.

I watched this last night as well. Was going to give it a 7 or 8 outta 10. Not sure if I liked the ending or not.

Damn it. I keep forgetting to, but it's definitely on my list. I wrote down a few movies I want to check out awhile ago, and put Kings of Summer on it.

I wouldn't say teenage-coming-of-age stories are my favorite, so not sure on those other movies you recommended. Are they like Place Beyond the Pines or something?

Lone Survivor. 9/10. Best war movie since saving private Ryan.

Wouldve been 10/10 but I hated the lens flares and slow motion parts. But that's just me and my hate for those Things being in movies like this.

Teenage coming of age is just the theme, the movies are good just because the way they are done. I liked them because they are real life type movies. I'm a big fan of the Little Miss Sunshine type movies though.

Yeah, luckily there werent too many of those parts though.

Saving Private Ryan is amazing, no doubt. It was a more "sexy" war and nothing, I hope at least, will ever match the horrors of the D Day invasion to start that movie. SPR was more hollywood than true story when compared to LS.

I will give LS a slight edge though in my viewing.

Did see it again last weekend. First time I ever saw the same movie more than once at the theatre. I Couldnt believe someone left right at the beginning of the part when they started to show the pictures of all the soldiers. They also missed the end part that told an important part of shy something happened (who knows, they may have seen it before and known.......but still...)

Please, both of those are 10 out of 10. Even to this day I can shout out to one of my friends, "Looking good Billy Ray" and get a "Feeling good Lewis" in return.

Back to the thread, watched Kick-Ass 2 - and it was a meh, 5 out of 10. Loved the first one but the sequel didn't live up.

My car key fell out of my pocket during Iron Man 3 (unbeknownst to me), and the next movie I saw was Oblivion when it finally dawned on me I was missing my car key, so naturally I couldn't focus during the rest of the movie; and thus am negatively biased towards it. Seemed like a kinda cool movie tho up to the point where I realized I was missing my car key.

Was at a trade show recently, and one of the booth owners, I guy I've known for years, recommends it for anyone in online marketing.

So far, I'd say 8/10. It's not over yet, though.
