Those who are in the military but never have been on a deployment yet......should veterans day hold any special "courtesies" to them as well as those who have served? O
Not sure what you mean by Deployment. Do you mean only if you've been deployed to combat zones ?

I guess deployment oversea, combat or not. Even though they are vastly different I will lump them into one category.

Belly, I sure will tell him. I am going through the process of getting mine as well. I have been working on a gun range and want to open it in the spring next year.

I also want to thank all the Oc'ers that have served as well. I appreciate you for your service.

I don't look at anyone who has been overseas any different than someone who served only stateside. They still did the job and served. Being stateside you were always training to be deployed to some location.

To serve is make a commitment of duty to country, yourself, other soldiers, friends and family and future generation. All soldiers have taken the responsibility to perform any act of commitment to benefit the total working of the Arm Forces. I respect anyone who has served in whatever capacity, they step up, made a commitment and fulfilled their duty to serve in the Arm Forces.

With all those other soldiers working to get me my bullets, C Rations I would be dead…

You don't have to see combat to be considered a veteran. To receive veteran status you have to be honorably discharged.

Father in law was in the army and served it Vietnam, was hit with shrapnel from a boobie trap and received a purple heart.

Brother in law is a hh-60 pilot in the usaf. Has done over 5000 rescue missions. Deploys every other 6 months. He was just promoted to LT Colonel last week.

My wife is usaf. Has not deployed yet. Was just accepted to physician assistant school through the military. So no more hacking and going medical. She is about to pin on Capt.

I have a whole host of friends I like to take the time to send a text of call or even grab a bite/drink with.

I also like to take time to head up to Sunbury, OH - just southeast of where SR-3 and SR-37 meet - and take the time to remember those who have the ultimate sacrifice for my freedoms.

I don't get deployed to the Middle East, but I do spend months at a time in a submarine performing missions vital to our security. They are both important parts of the overall plan.

Brutus what do you think about them opening up subs completely to enlisted women? I can just see the drama on a sub. Surface is pretty terrible.

Couldn't care less. I feel the same way about women on subs as I do openly gay in the military: as long as you can do your job, it doesn't matter.
