A friend of mine has the last name "Downs." Okay, that's fine. But they just announced that they were expecting, and they are referring to the coming child as "Baby Downs."

What do you guys think of this? Social faux pas? Am I an ass for going that way with it? Both?

Hardly a social faux pas when their last name is indeed Downs.

They should name the baby Upson and that could be used for a boy or a girl.

Any parent that would call their child "Baby Otrap" needs repeatedly punched in the face.

They should not give the baby a name at all. Just call it Downs, ala gibby.

I was going to suggest they go with Baby D, but that's not any better at all.
