Spin off thread from Xmas list thread. Usually Christmas/birthday gifts are a total fail/let down but every once and a while I get something worthwhile.

What's the best gift you ever got that you didn't as for?

Got a dirtbike in the 6th grade. 1995 Yamaha RT 100. I asked for one for years, but never thought it would actually happen.

Best. Christmas. Ever.

I got an N64 for Christmas one year. I still have it and I still can beat the living fuck out of anyone in any game for that system.

I got a 4 wheeler back in 1999. Completely unexpected but totally fucking awesome. A few years later I almost killed myself on it, messed it up pretty bad but didn't total it. It still serves as a farm quad at my grandma's farm.

Probably some hot shoe back in my 8th-12th grade years. Could not find a pic of the black (soft leather/suede) hi tops back in 1990 or 1991...when most mid cut and hi top shoes were all black with white swoosh.

So these bitches.....almost $100 in 1989 lol

You couldn't hang with me at Mariokart bro. Never met a single person that could.

And honestly either the N64 would probably be my answer as well. 17 or so years of entertainment and still going strong.

Dad put cherry bomb glasspack dual exhaust (which came out in front of the rear tires) on my HS truck. Totally unexpected. Sounded awesome. Wish I still had that beast of a Chevy.

As a kid my Nintendo 64 the year they came out. I got the system with Mario and waver under 64 and both were great

While I also had a 64, I didn't get it for Christmas.

I did, however, get a SNES for Christmas one year. Lots of memories on that. I remember being upset because I actually wanted the older NES because it (at the time) had better games .

Shit, I don't even know the best gift I've ever received. Probably an Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie card? I've always hated receiving gifts, so I usually ask for very little. From my wife, probably Golden Eye for the Wii. Good game.
