Sobriety checkpoint tonight on Ohio 4. Also a checkpoint in Portage county Saturday evening.
If you know of any other sobriety checkpoints around Ohio please post here.
Be careful drinking and driving this Halloween.

Even if I knew where any checkpoints were, I wouldn't say on here. Helping Tiernan get out of DUIs isn't a hobby of mine.

Yes, post them all here so we can avoid these violations of our 4th amendment.

Thanks for posting...and let's keep them coming.
What you allow, you get more of. All these little infringements add up. Just another example of how this kind of stuff becomes a slippery slope. Nobody would mind if these targeted only the truly impaired driver....but the 'legal' limit keeps dropping, and even social drinkers face heavy fines and penalties..

I have a scanner just for this type of BS. If you're dumb enough to get drunk snagged at a Sobriety Checkpoint you really shouldn't have a drivers license even when your sober. Rookies...sheesh.

HAMILTON —
Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in Hamilton between 10 p.m. tonight and 3 a.m. Saturday.
The Butler County OVI Task Force said the checkpoint will be on Ohio 4, and it will be a low-manpower operation."
Best I can do.

33 between Columbus and Athens is crazy packed with cops. The last two days I've been lol'ing at all the dumbasses getting pulled over and getting their cars searched. It's easy pickins to get all the stupid kids heading to Halloween at OU.

Great thread said...... Hopefully anyone who reads this (who's been drinking & thinking about driving) will have a "DD" or take a taxi home. A lot safer and cheaper: thumbup:.

I don't have problem with checkpoints hauling in DUI s or people driving on suspend licenses.
I have a huge problem with the fact that three-quarters of the arrests at checkpoint (at least is seems to be here in C-bus, are for warrants and other non-related offenses. It smells too much like a "Are all uff your papers in order?" dragnet for my taste.

Smart people know all the back roads in their area, so checkpoints have no significance.
Or just use a DD. Worked for my friends and I Saturday morning.

College professor one time informed us of a checkpoint. He wasnt fond of them and tried to organize as many SOBER students as possible to all drive separately and drive through that checkpoint all about the same time. We didnt go do it but heard it backed it up pretty good.

True, but the cops know that as well and a buddy who was a deputy told me the have heavier presence of cops on those roads for people trying to go around it. The one year he worked on it they caught MORE people on thos back roads than the actual checkpoint did...Heretic;1524589 wrote:Smart people know all the back roads in their area, so checkpoints have no significance.

Not a checkpoint issue, but 1984 theme nonetheless...
A cop randomly checked my license when he was driving behind me. He pulled me over and gave me a ticket for driving with a suspended driver's license. Apparently I'd been drawn in Ohio's "random selection" program whereby licensed driver's are sent a letter in the mail requiring proof of insurance. I never received the letter because - as it turns out - they sent it to the wrong address. Anyway, the cop gave me a ticket and said he could tow me if he chose.
My insurance has always been in force. Nevermind that I've provided proof in order to get my registration.
Total Big Brother. And no Quaker, it isn't Obama's fault. The law - which I was completely unaware of- has been in place for 15-20 years.
