OSU didn't hit a shot outside of 10 feet. I figured they would be inside all game without Vonleh, as IU doesn't have a post presence without him, really. But that is just insane.

Insane? Unfortunatley, having watched this team all season, not really. :-/ First game since 2004 they didn't hit a 3pt shot. Even early in game, I knew OSU was in trouble after missing easy opportunities to score. Missed dunk, layup and traveling on a 4-1 break. MSU home Sunday will be interesting. Certainly not confident although MSU isn't playing well either.

Folks, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the men's basketball team isn't very good. (Kyle has the full autopsy report on the Indiana game over here.) Thad Matta squeezing 22 wins out of this team is a minor miracle akin to squeezing blood from a stone. It's frustrating because the team is filled with likable guys. It's definitely not for lack of effort; the talent simply isn't there. They've struggled without a consistent scorer, and it's not like DeShaun Thomas or Jared Sullinger is walking through that door before the tournament.

Yea, insane. Quote the 3-pt line all you want, but that's 19'9. OSU didn't make a shot unless they were HALFWAY!! I wasn't using 10 feet as exaggeration, their longest make was literally, 10 feet.

I may have missed something in a previous post...but it isnt 19'9" any more in college....

Actually, when you think about it, its really not. The midrange game has been gone for years since the 3pt shot has come in. Everything in this day and age, is long range, or in the paint/driving to the basket. The 15ft jumper is fairly non existant in the game today.
Yes, I know not making one shot outside of 10ft is insane. No question. Whats really weird if you think about it, is that they were still able to score 64pts Think about that.....

OSU hasn't gone a game without a 3 pointer in a decade. When that happens again this year, it's really not incredible at all.

That's what happens when you play high school teams in the non-conference.

The scheduling needs to change. Had they even played a decent non-conference schedule, people wouldn't be so shocked by them losing 8 games. This team was never as good at its record.

lol...change? It was one fucking year with a weak OOC schedule. If they had a stronger one or not, it doesn't matter...they would still suck in the end.

The 2015 B10 schedule is out, no word on the OOC games.

Also, anyone with a functioning brain could tell OSU wasn't as good as their early perfect record.

I'll admit, early on I thought they would ride their defense and maybe develop some kind of identity on offense. It just didn't happen. I didn't expect them to be this bad.

As it was already stated several times, the talent isn't there. It sucks, kinda reminds me of the pre-Matta days.

I had them with 5-6 losses. Never thought for one second they would lose to Nebrasketball and get swept by Penn State, or hell even lose to them once. Never thought they were a top 5 team even when they were 15-0 but thought they were good enough to at least with compete the top teams, and sadly enough I still feel like they can play with pretty much any team, just can't hit enough shots to beat them.

Thanks, great read! Gonna miss watching him too! Should be a buzz at the Schott today. Hope OSU can pull one out. I know some don't care for L. Smith, but I have always liked him. He hasn't been the most consistent player. But always plays hard and has represented OSU basketball very well. He deserves some props as well.
