They're becoming a pretty good defensive team, and that's going to help keep them in games. The problem right now is still the long stretches without a bucket. Those droughts really hurt them.

Started off the B1G in style. They were shaky for some of the first half, but had a great start and great second half to beat a team they should have beaten. Hoping they can get out to a 4-1 start in conference play to lead them into the back-to-back road games at Maryland and Purdue.

Lyle was fun to watch last night. If Matta can keep him in check with just facilitating, and less trying to score and make dumb plays, it would go a long way.Heretic;1772156 wrote:Started off the B1G in style. His kind of place, he can shoot as much as he wants, and won't be asked to play defense.wildcats20;1774342 wrote:Grandstaff transferring to Oklahoma, can play after the 1st semester next year.

Yeah Oklahoma is not the Oklahoma of old. Their defense is pretty good.

Forgot they were playing this afternoon. 48-18 at half? Ouch.

Osu getting the humble pie they probably needed today. The comments from some of them after the NW game had me shaking my head. They were acting like they were too good now. They needed this today.

Not sure when Indiana went from the worst defensive team I have ever seen, to pretty damn good. But it happened about 5 games ago, when Crean started playing the freshman more, who give effort. And when JBJ went down, who gives 0 effort. Funny how that happens...

Zero effort on D today. Indiana got every rebound and loose ball all first half. IU hit some 3s but mainly crashed every board and scored on 2nd and 3rd chances. Awful game by OSU all around.

Zero effort at all today, in every aspect. They laid down and died pretty early. The Answer;1774650 wrote:Zero effort on D today. Indiana got every rebound and loose ball all first half. IU hit some 3s but mainly crashed every board and scored on 2nd and 3rd chances. Awful game by OSU all around.

Twas an ugly game. The sort that made me think I put too much effort into things by simply hitting the remote.

Agree it was ugly all around. Going forward I would like to see more of AJ Harris at the point and a lot less of Lyle. At least get him off the ball. I think he's terrible at pg.Midstate01;1774652 wrote:Zero effort at all today, in every aspect. They laid down and died pretty early.

SO happy that I forgot to DVR that game.
Would have been nothing but frustration

That's because they play fast. 9th in possessions/game
They're 20th in defensive efficiency - points allowed per 100 possessions - and 9th when adjusted for opponent (per kenpom)

Lyle is really coming on. Only guy to play worth much against Indiana and then has a triple-double last night.
Now, the fact they needed to wear down a shitty team with no depth in order to overcome Rutgers...a bit more concerning; all you can do is hope they were looking ahead to Maryland and had to be refocused at the half by Matta.

Bates-Diop can be a star, but does he have the personality for it?

Glad to see Harris get the start at pg. Runs the team better then Lyle. Would still like to see Harris and Lyle together with Lyle at the 2. Penn state isn't good but any win is good for this team right now.
