Seems to be how it's trending. But maybe with this draft class he will stay another year. Not sure what next year's looks like though.

James Madison is a decent team. What I saw, OSU had some holes in their zone, but it's not a terrible performance.

Many consider James Madison an NCAA team this year. I am no lover of the zone at all. But Matta is committed to playing it 100% of time this year. OSU is a long and athletic team and he likes what he sees with that and a zone. We'll see how it plays out. Most teams have a hole somewhere in a zone. I just hate the availability of open 3pts shots.

OSU is @ Louisville tonite. Big game. Like to see they hang with the Cardinals. Not sure they are quite ready to though at this point. Good measuring stick at this point in the season.

Possibly. I think 2yrs. But yes, he is the read deal. We'll see how he handles the pressure of playing in his home town tonite against Louisville.

I think, before we try to decide how great he is and how quick he's going to be gone, it'll be important to see how he does against quality competition on a regular basis. I mean, so far he's dominated against some lesser teams, but in their only larger-conference opponent, he struggled a good bit with Marquette. Tonight, against UNC and in the B1G (as well as the postseason) will determine how long he stays -- not how well he does out-talenting scrubs from Sacred Heart or Campbell.

He has the size, for a 2G...which is almost as important as skill at this time in their development when talking NBA. It seems the 6'-6'3 two-guards are looked at as "small". But, the 6'4-6'whatever guys have the size.

Dont' disagree with this at all. That being said, if you have seen the kid play, he has the skills, size, athleticism..the potential, he has the "it" factor. And thats all the NBA cares about. He also has a great feel for the game. In a preseason closed scrimmage, he lit up West Virginia with NBA scouts there. They were very high on him after that. Certainly hope he sticks around longer than 1yr or even 2. But he has the potential, no question about it.

Can't wait for this game tonight, and I don't even expect OSU to win. Like cbf said, this will be a great measuring stick, and it will be interesting to see how the freshman react to the pressure and the crowd. This will probably be the toughest venue OSU will play in all year.

Louisville is not very good offensively. Getting turnovers and points in transition will be key for the Bucks.

Yeah, from what I read, Louisville has more turnovers than assists so far, so they must not be that good at moving the ball around and getting good shots. The issue will be Ohio State doing just that themselves, as the Cards are very good defensively and will make it tougher on them to score than anyone they've played so far. Anything they can do fast break will be a big help.

Just found out I'm going to the game tonight. Leaving Cincinnati now, hopefully the Buckeyes don't get killed tonight!

Key for this game, is keeping UL in check as far as allowing them to make scoring runs and get the crowd going. They do this off of their defense. OSU can't turn the ball over and must hang close in the rebounding. If they don't, this could be a double digit game. If they do, OSU will hang around and give themselves a chance.

The key will be what the refs allow them to get away with at home, defensively.

UL will get home cooking. No question. That's the way it is on the road and to win, you have to overcome that. Harrell is a beast..would love to see him get into foul trouble. OSU is not a physical team so he is a complete mismatch.

Well, yeah, everyone will get calls in college basketball at home. But, what I meant, is how the game is overall called. If they are allowed to hand check and slow the guards (Scott) down while running the court etc. Those aren't really home or away calls, simply how the game itself is called. 75% of the time, Louisville/VCU/others are allowed to do it...and that's when they are at their best. When it's called properly, those teams struggle.
