Game 1:

Ohio State mauled the fuck out of someone not important enough for me to care what their name is. I think the game is being shown on the Big 10 Network student filmings around right now. Hope my one friend remembers to DVR, so I can watch it with some beers the next time I'm over there. Ought to be entertaining watching the young guys.

I was pretty shocked when ESPN and BTN ran their ticker, they had to use an NCAA logo for UMASS - Lowell (I think thats who it was).

When will Matta end the charade of starting Amir Williams and playing him 10 - 13 minutes? Just start the lineup that you go with after taking Williams out at the 5 minute mark......

Russell is really good. Great feel for game, can handle it, shoot it, see the court. Total package. Also keep an eye on Bates-Diop. 6'7" with a wing span of over 7ft. Kid is really good. Loving much improved with confidence. Probably deepest, most athletic team Matta has had. And MUCH better shooting team than last year. Should be fun to watch!

Russell needs to be broken before he becomes a star, and Matta's the one to do it

If OSU can get anything from Williams, Lee, and McDonald, they can be really good by seasons end. This the most talented roster(top to bottom) that they have had in quite a while.

Shannon Scott with 14 assists and 25 through 2 games. Not too bad.

I did not get to watch the game but couldn't help notice Amir was 6/6 for 12 points with 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block and 0 turnovers.

Russell doesn't need to be broken. He had a rough game last nite. Was probably good for him. He was trying to force things a bit too much. He will be fine. It was good to see OSU didn't need him to carry them. Great to see others step up and have a good game. Nice balance.

Between the three of them, I think they will get decent production. Lee is better than he has looked. I think he is still trying to fit in and figuring things out. But he was almost a double/double player at Temple. The talent is there.
Amir is still Amir. He had a huge size advantage last nite so he shoulda done what he did. But he has looked to be a bit more aggressive. I like McDonald off the bench. He brings great energy and physical play. Good to see Matta has 3 options at the post position and all bring something a lil different.

It is so nice to watch a team with a real offense. Scott is so much better offensively than Craft although it helps we have actual shooters this year, I was impressed

Last night, 2/3 were impressive. Lee didn't do anything, but Williams came on strong and actually played with emotion, something that's been really lacking in the past. McDonald came off the bench and provided instant energy and seemed to be near the ball for about every defensive possession for a couple minutes. If they can get good production from 2/3 on a game-by-game basis, the Bucks will have a very strong "post-by-committee" group.

At my friends' place, we were talking about that. There was just so much more ball movement and passing last night than we'd seen in a while. Craft was good when there was a lot of talent around him, but last year, it just seemed the offense was a stagnant wreck where the team held the ball forever and depending on him to try to turn shit into gold in the final five seconds of the shot clock. That's not a formula for success on a consistent basis.

The play yesterday when we turned it over and Russell stole it right back at half-court leading to a fast break--I had an instant flashback to watching James Harden as a freshman at ASU doing similar things. Something about being left hand dominant leads to steals like that, where the other player isn't used to having a lefty pick their pocket.

Craft and Scott are the same player, essentially. They need talent around them to maximize their ability. I wouldn't say Scott is better offensively, nor would I say Craft was better offensively, since they both are/were terrible shooters. They are both great defensive players that can distribute and run an offense. Playing either of them off the ball last year was doing them a disservice, but there really wasn't another option for Matta.

I would certainly say scott is better offensively. Offense is not just shooting. Also, Scott can run the offense much better than Craft ever could. Now, I believe Craft was the better defender, and potentially better leader (remains to be seen), but Scott is certaintly the better offensive player.

I know I may be the only Shannon Scott homer in the entire world but the dude is way better at distributing than Craft. He's a pass first PG that can actually run an offense. Scoring-wise neither one is very good obviously, but Scott is a far better passer.
