LA Confidential, Master and Commander, Cinderella Man, 3:10 to Yuma, Body of Lies, American Gangster and then his big ones in the Gladiator, The Insider and my favorite of his A Beautiful Mind
No one even noticed Crowe in Gladiator. I mean he was totally overshadowed by the brilliant acting from the American icon, Joaquin Phoenix.

No problem. I have been waiting for this movie to come out for years. Have read the book twice and on my third time this winter before it comes out. The main guy, Marcus Lutrell, has been trying to get it done for a long time but wanted to make sure it was true to what happened. I am thinking the success of Act of Valor may have helped facilitate getting it down and a named actor.

I remember when that all went down. My brother was a SEAL for a number of years and the first weekend he reported to duty was when these bodies were coming back home. Ya knew what he was doing was dangerous, but it wasnt until then that it all hit home.

I really don't understand your sarcasm on this topic. Joaquin Phoenix is widely considered one of the best actors out there right now.

Jesus Ted. Did Joaquin steal your French fries in middle school or something?

Joaquin is comparable to a Belushi who had more talented brother who died too early.

Di Caprio
Mark Whalberg
Matt Damon
Jake Gyllenhaal
Hugh Jackman

I could keep going but I have better things to do than debate you on this topic.
Michael Fassbender
Guy Pierce
Ed Norton

Are ones to keep in mind too.

Ted has made it clear that he is one not to take very seriously on this topic. And if I said Abraham Lincoln was my favorite president, dlazz would respond with this:

So, he can't be taken seriously, either. It's just who he is.

Liked Gladiator, just could not get into Braveheart but I thought 300 was atrocious. It was my own fault though as I didnt know at the time I saw it that it was based more on the comic book rendition of the Battle of Thermopalyea (sp?) then the actual events. That totally fucked with my thoughts on the movie.

Oops. Sorry. I forgot, talk of Joaquin Phoenix was serious business.

And BTW, this "topic" is about Gladiator and how it's on TV, not about the amazing skillz of one, Joaquin Phoenix. You want to cradle his nutsack, start your own thread about him.

close.....

but yeah, 300 was awful. The only thing I got out of it was wanting to know more about what actually took place there

Yeah..I made the mistake and studied up on it a little bit and caught the History Channel's version of what had happend historically.
