A buddy of mine is crashing at my house tonight b/c his wife is so irate with him. He just got back from Vegas and has exhausted his checkings, savings, and maxed out his credit cards. He's crashing here cuz he can't even get a hotel room cuz his cards are maxed lol.

At what point do you say "that's enough"?
I can see running thru ur checkings, maybe dipping into savings... but maxing out your credit cards to finance gambling? I've known his wife since we were 5, and I'm surprised she didn't kill him.. literally.

At least he hasn't asked for money yet.

He gets paid thursday (we work at the same place), of course 2 days without money is a long time.

If he needed money he shoulda kicked his wife out and sent her over to crash. She'd have a better chance getting a loan from me.

So you've known this chick for a long time, what's the odds she takes him back?

Would your buddy be up for a wager on that at 5-1?

Sounds like a fucking boss. Probably just uses you for your couch to get away from his wretched wife.

After having orgies in a hot tub filled with high dollar champaign... I can only imagine how dull your wife would like.

His wife isn't going to leave him because who the hell is going to pay for her to make SAMMICHES? A job? LOL.

Look, the last thing we need is another woman trying to buck the trend and become employed, and we all know that if the man is bankrupt she won't win anything in a divorce settlement because all she'll get is debt. She can't be that stupid, well never mind she's a woman!

Wow. Why did she let him go out there in the first place? Did she know at all that he obviously has a gambling problem?

I felt bad for going to a bachelor party in Illinois early this year and dropping 1K between gambling, drinking and strippers in one night....this one up's me though. At least I saved myself enough money to drive home and not ruin my family...

Hey, if Snot's wife stayed with him and his 7 personalities through the years, I can see this chick staying with this guy.

I'm not a huge advocate of jumping right into counseling first, but it would appear that both of these people have been through enough and something needs to be identified and worked on immediately. How much do these people want to stay together? It seems like the wife needs to be the one to be proactive if this guy's gambling problem is as bad as you have described. And the gambling is just a part of the problem? I think the ball is in the wife's court, (pardon the expression). He doesn't appear able to correct his behavior and evidently doesn't really want to. The other issue would be...are there children involved.? That makes it even more complicated. She needs to either decide enough is enough, or try very hard to get this guy into a counseling situation.

I don't gamble either. I have an addictive personality, and I know that I would not be able to stop.

At the risk of being serious, the guy needs professional help.

I'd say that if his wife is so pissed at him, she'd probably be an easy catch for a one-night stand if you fake some sympathy for her plight.

And i thought i was bad when i was in Vegas and burned through the amount of cash i had brought exclusively for gambling, and went to the ATM and took $100 out of checking.

But, it worked out, considering i won everything back with that $100.

Going a little bit into checking is OK, all things considered, but dipping into savings and credit cards to gamble is bad, bad news.
