I actually kinda agree with what you're saying, but the ones portraying the crushed grieving dad is the media, not AP. Meaningless in that he is an entertainer...the team goes on whether he is there or not...its just football. You are right about it being stupid shit that people care one way or the other, but it's obvious that he didn't feel the need to miss a football game to handle details, his grief, comfort his family, etc etc....so why are people gushing all over this.??? Because he's Adrian Peterson? How many of those people turned the page without batting an eyelash, when the paper reports another baby died from domestic violence right in their own home town. I'm not blasting Peterson...it's his decision depending and based upon his relationship. ^^^But if this was a member of the Vikings practice squad, I pretty much would guarantee you wouldn't see a post or 1/50 the stuff on facebook or internet sites.

Stuff gains traction all the time. The headline story on CNN.com right now is about a baby that was killed 20 years ago. You are seeing posts on forums like they are more sports oriented. Go to a website that is more modeling oriented or something, I bet you don't see 1 post about it. I would dispute that...this tragedy is so common that it is lucky to make page 2 in your local paper. CNN? Idoubt it (unless you are Adrian Peterson)....3-4 babies a day die in the U.S. from "Shaken Baby Syndrome" ALONE. Show me the other 1200 deaths. This is only reported because they solved a murder mystery and the unusualness of the case. If they had caught or known who the killers were right away this would be local news, maybe not even on page 1.

I thought they only reported it on celebs? I saw at least 3 others on CNN this past week from various areas of the country. The one thing that the Peterson story has in common with the others you typically see is that the killer already had a suspended sentence for domestic violence. Those always seem to get some heavy reporting.

Sadly, equally disgusting shit that happens isn't reported on. You hear about the deaths, but you don't hear about the 6 year old that's terrified of GI Joes because his uncle has been shoving them up his ass for the last 2 years, or the 12 year old boy who was forced to have sex with his 10 year sister, who was tied up to the bed, while their mother videotaped them.
