You'll most likely save $55 the first trip Sparky. Especially if you buy any kind of merchandise other than justo groceries. BTW...I've never seen fresh clams or crayfish at SAMs but Costco had them often.

Those dickheads (Sams) raised the membership price. I renewed in June for $40ernest_t_bass;1515787 wrote:Sam's is $45.

Costco member in Chicago here ... love 'em. Nice selection of pretty quality stuff (even the store-brand stuff is good).
If you only go there for stuff like paper towels and toilet paper, you probably won't save the membership fee. But if you get meat, beer/wine, bread there on a somewhat frequent basis you will almost certainly make savings over the course of a year. Clear a bunch of room in the freezer and freeze a lot of the stuff you get (including the bread!).
Also, tires. You will save a bunch on tires going through a warehouse store.

Best thing about a Sam's Club membership is the gas savings. Can save at least $5 a week on gas, so a $40 membership can save you a couple hundred dollars a year just in gas. Of course, if you're not somewhere where it's not out of the way, it doesn't really matter.

Wouldn't benefit me any. Can you fill up at any Wal-Mart, though?se-alum;1515991 wrote:Best thing about a Sam's Club membership is the gas savings. Their Kirkland brands are usually solid as evidenced by this report. Also a big fan of Kirkland's 5hr Energy. For this reason I go to Costco.Instead, try Kirkland Signature pork bacon from Costco. It is the only one
that rates excellent for taste. It crisps up nicely and consistently has a
balanced blend of fat and meat flavors, with just the right amount of smoky
sweetness.
"Kirkland only comes in a giant four-pack, but you can freeze unopened bacon
for several months," said Kaplan.

I think Costco is a lot better than Sam's Club.

The only think I think is that I feel you do tend to overbuy at these places. Unless you really have a large family, then buying in bulk can be beneficial. But if there is just 2 or 3 of you, then I think you tend to impulsive buy and you end up spending more in the long run.

Agree for the most part. My family (3) does buy eggs because we go through 2-3 dozen a week.Scarlet_Buckeye;1517840 wrote:I think you do tend to overbuy at these places.
