This just came across my Facebook newsfeed. Barf.

Welcome, Obamacare. I'm glad you're here!
I know someone whose private health insurance costs (shitty insurance at that) went from $1,300 a month to $400 a month- as of today. AND she's on the Gold Plan now. Triple the quality for a third of the price!

Give it week, and then Obama will be able to claim another $20B or so in deficit reduction :)

Great day -- sun came up, blue skies, all 'essential' birds chirping; equity markets are up nicely, and taxpayers will ultimately save a few billion a day. Carry on.

Eh, I think they're concerned there won't be outrage over it, and people will get used to it ... think the principle of heating up a frog in a frying pan.

I'm not speaking to the actual quality of it (though if the website today has been any indication, they're off to a rip-roaring start), but of the perceived quality and reception by the Tea Kettle.

There's a Maury meme in here, somewhere.

As in, it costs what the federal employees would have made, and subsequently put back into the economy? As in, all that money they have?

Or is there something else to which you were referring?

My parent's went from $1900 per month to $550 per month total for the same coverage. I welcome the exchange with open arms. There are plenty of parts of Obamacare that no one should have issue with

It's gonna cost a shit ton in OT because everyone I know who works for the .gov is still gonna have the same deadlines when they get back to work.

Only in the minds of those confined within the beltway. In the real world, when you shut something down - a factory, or an office - your costs go down. But in Washington costs go up??? Too funny. Next.

I'm curious ...

Who would have trusted a government comprised of George W. Bush and a Republican supermajority in Congress to legislate over one's healthcare in this manner?

That's still an option, though, and not a compulsion.

If there was a mandate that no OT would be worked, then the deadlines would either be moved or be missed. Obviously, some deadlines carry more gravitas than others, but I'd submit that, at this point, cutting or minimizing cost ... pretty extremely ... would carry even more than most deadlines.

Sure, the deadlines on some can be missed, but would you be one of the crowd to come out and say "geez, the DOD can't even get their fiscal year end reporting done on time!"

Yeah, because govt employees are so overworked.

Get an honest 37 hour work week out of them and not OT need :)

Most DFAS employees work a good 50 hours per week as it is. FYE they are in the 60's typically.

The Clinton shutdown was estimated to cost $1.5B. You think turning out the lights saves that much money? Everyone (for the most part) still gets paid.
