Its possible but unlikely. You will be paid and so will those that earned it by accumulating vacation time. Its time earned prior to any shutdown. Don't fall prey to the scare tactics.

I just checked my emails from the higher ups, only non excepted employees may not get back paid. but even as excepted employees, we changed our pay status starting tomorrow to furlough even though we have to work. People on vacation were to be notified they will be furloughed if they dont return to duy and they wont be paid for that time off.

Fox news just reported that since the last shutdown they have changed "essential/non-essential" personnel to "excepted/non-excepted" because people's feelings were hurt during the 95/96 shutdown that some were classified as non-essential.

At the end of the day Congress passed Obamacare, the president signed it, the Supreme Court upheld it, Obama campaigned on it a second time and was reelected. The will of the people was not ignored and it's unreasonable that legislation is trying to be tacked onto a budget measure. GOP is trying to shoot themselves in the head. They will be blamed (rightfully so) for the shutdown. I'd be fine with it if it only damaged them and not the country as a whole.

If the Republicans aim is to save money, shutting down the govt. is the opposite of that. The last shut down cost taxpayers $1.5 billion.

It seems to me that there's a pretty big difference between making sure the minority's voice is heard when arguing a piece of legislation, and attempting to hold current business hostage by trying to roll back laws already passed. This isn't legislating, it's campaigning, and it's shameful. The argument "he did it first" was something we taught our child at an early age was not a valid excuse, I'm not sure why we're willing to accept it here.

As inept and corrupt as each and every Republican is, they can actually read. They read polls. They read how their switchboards are overwhelmingly opposing ObamaKare. They read balance sheets of money flowing into their re-election offices. They read that the American people are 55 to 60% against the "Affordable" Care Act. They read that this is where they need to be right now. The blameless and perfect Democrats read that the media will save them and blame the evil scum TEA Party and conservatives for closing down the government.

Two things happen. They eventually cave on a clean CR and the talk radio crowd is uprorious and seeks to primary republicans complicit in the cave or the shut down lingers on indefinitely and Republicans are blamed for being obstinate over obamacare which begins benefitting people who don't get employer coverage with gubmint cheese today.

Only hope is for success against guys like Joe Manchin and Mark Begich being on the record in the Senate but those efforts aren't going to successfully defeat the narrative that they just wanted to vote on a clean CR IMHO.

The average joe sees that Obama won the last election and the House Republicans ringing their hands over Obamacare is sour grapes at this point...even if that average joe doesn't like Obamacare.
