No idea if its bc of pitch count that's pretty dumb considering he was at 78. At least let him finish the inning considering he had 9k's in 3.2 innings. BeastGOONx19;1499906 wrote:Anyone know why Salazar came out in the 4th?

Mentioned it was his pitch count and want to rest him, keep him fresh.
Kid is amazing, but like Darvish, tends to get in the pitch count.
Brian Shaw nice outing, quick 1-2-3.

Salazar is the first Tribe pitcher to strike out 9 in less than 4 innings since 1960. F'n amazing!
And they are really watching his pitch count.

Regarding Salazar. According to hammy, they are in a but of a pickle on what to do with him. They wanted to go every 6th or 7th day and have no limit (or, essentially 100) on pitches. When Masterson went down, he now has to go every 5th day and this his pitch count is now more towards 80-85. They want him in the rotation in the playoffs (not bullpen) as it stands now, so for him to be fresh he can't go much more than 85.
His control was a bit off last start so they did a side session, which they don't normally do (I assume an extra from the norm) to keep his control sharp. That apparently made today a hard pitch count of 80.

Hammy said 1916. Herb score was the only one to strike out more in first 7 starts

^^^at this point, I'm almost too 'scared' to scoreboard watch....I'm trying to resist getting to caught up in this.
I just know the Tribe has to keep winning.
Pennant(playoff) races in baseball can be exhausting for the rabid fan...they last a month and it's an everyday thing. IMO it is what makes baseball better than football where you get a lot of pregame hype between the actual games which often turn out to be anticlimactic themselves. Baseball's playoff 'hype' is the players grinding it out everyday...and when your team is out there battling for a spot you are hanging on every pitch.
Judging by the size of the crowds at Progressive field, I'm not sure Cleveland fans get this. No one alive has really watched the Tribe in a pennant race....for so long the team was sh@t and was no where in it. Then in the late 90's the Indians just blew the division away and walked into the playoffs year after year.
This is the real stuff ....NOW.

This stretch run is going to be fun. We got a very weak schedule while the al east beats up on each other. The best case scenario for the tribe is that Boston keeps winning. After this series with the royals next we got the Astros the white sox and the twins. I can definitely say I'm pretty excited.

If they would happen to finish with a wild card spot who do they start in a one game playoff? Right now I'd have to go with Ubaldo. He has been the best and most consistent starter over the second half.

Somebody earlier had suggested Ubaldo, with Salazar waiting in the wings. I agree with this.

I don't want to get ahead of myself and project whose turn it might be then. We won't have the luxury of setting up our rotation for the potential 1 game playoffs because I am assuming that we will likely need every game down the stretch.royal_k;1500129 wrote:If they would happen to finish with a wild card spot who do they start in a one game playoff?
