I have a good friend and he has 2 kids. A boy 19 and a girl 9. Up until recently he told me that the kids slept with him and his wife until they were 7 or 8 years old.
He said they had bad dreams or would get scared or just couldnt sleep in their own beds in the middle of the night and crawl in to bed with him and his wife the boy was 8 when he quit and the girl was 7 but has done it a few times even at 9.
I said man thats weird as shit and he got mad lol I said we had our son sleep in ours one or 2 nights when he was 2 just to get him to go to damn sleep. Other than that our door is shut (not locked) and if he needed something he can always come wake us up if there is an issue.
What say you OC?

Eh I don't think that's too bad as long as it wasn't like all the time.

It's stupid....there is a reason your kids have their own beds in their own room.

Sometimes parenting is hard and or heart-breaking. Do what is best for your kid.

Don't really think it is odd. My kids are 6 and 3. My son (6) rarely does anymore and my daughter (3) will maybe do it a couple times a month. I'm not sure why it is weird, it only probably has been going on since the beginning of human civilization.

Who gives a shit? My oldest daughter is almost 8, and if she wants to crawl in bed with us, who cares? she maybe does 2 times per year. Big fucking deal.

I thought the original post was more towards every night. I agree with you that infrequent is not a problem.

This lady pisses me off. I don't care so much about the whole "breast-feeding 'til he can switch to whiskey" part. What bothers me is that her statement is going to get her kid made fun of all throughout school. Hell, when he's 18, I'm sure this will still be getting brought up.

As for the question at hand ... well ...

Who cares? Next year it will be the same shit. 4-12 after three years; Chud will be fired along with Banner and Lombardi; then we will switch back to the 4-3.

5 out of 7 nights a week at least one of my 4-year old twins gets in our bed in the middle of the night.

My kids where never nap type kids and we didn’t encourage taking naps. Once they started not wanting to take naps, we where good with that. If they got tired and fell asleep on the floor, car seat or chair we would just make sure they didn’t sleep to long so they would sleep during the night. Now some times if a storm rolled in with heavy lighting and thunder they may wake up and come into our bedroom .. very few times that ever happen. Play hard, get tired, sleep hard wake up early…

That "nap" idea is encourageing lazyness, wimpness and weakness ...

Presently I and my daughter have learned to take Power naps as needed or in preparation of a long event. As children they would fall asleep when their body needed and they became tried pushing the limits, short naps to restore their energy without the regimented long nap time. The body builds up strength and endurance. Plus the mental idea that it does matter if they where tired just take a nap didn't seem to be a logical justification to make the kids do something. Some parent use naps as a convenient way to get away from their kids (Parent Break Time).
We have to agree that children behavior is a learned / taught aspect of growing up. What you as a parent do now is reflected as part of your children learning and behavior process. How many time have you hear this “I’m tired” where do you think this came from? Excuse...

So your weak, wimpy, and lazy? Noted.

It comes from being tired. Something that happens to your body no matter what. Naps or not, you won't change that.

I would think this is very odd, but I believe it is very common. Unfortunately.

I don't think there is any problem with an older toddler/young child coming into his parent's bed on rare occasion. Kids sometimes have fears and security issues and sometimes just need comforting. I think it is a problem if it becomes regular or frequent.

I never slept in my parents bed, and my kids have never slept in mine and my wife's bed. They come downstairs scared or upset we get up with them and walk them back to their room and settle them down there.

Parents bed is for parents, not kids. Those saying it's ok are just lazy and don't care to correct it.
