And that's why Michigan fans are delusional.
(1) They beat Notre Dame. Notre Dame, especially
this Notre Dame team, is one of the most overrated teams in the country. Granted ND has a ridiculous schedule, but putting that aside, who have they beaten? Arizona St? That's abut it.
(2) ND lost to an overhyped Michigan and an overhyped Oklahoma. Oklahoma lost to one of Texas' worst teams in years last week. Michigan lost to an abysmal Penn State. Just because Notre Dame was in the National Championship game last season doesn't mean they're worth a damn. It's an entirely different team - they're without their "star" quarterback, and gone is their leader on defense.
(3) Gardner didn't play "lights out." When you allow a guy to scramble against a slower defensive front, and you scheme almost every single play around 1 guy, he's going to put up big numbers. We've seen this time-and-time again in College. Watching the game... one actually sees the poor decisions and poor mechanics Gardner demonstrated. Those very same poor mechanics and poor decisions are what's now haunting UM the past few weeks. It's just now you're seeing it com out in a losing effort, as opposed to being hidden in a winning effort.
