cousin is big into "bow-fishing". Got this baby last night. 75lbs. Apparently the old state record was only 54 lbs.

Starting around the age of 14 or so I got into fishing and hunting big time. A neighbor of mine had 3 farms in the area with 5 nice ponds that he let me and some of my friends fish in as well as the Scioto river and other local fishing holes. I especially enjoyed large mouth bass fishing with artificial worm and crank baits! lol Started hunting whitetail deer around the same age with same group of friends. Have 5 nice bucks under my belt with both bow and shotgun. Also hunted rabbit, squirrel and quail. About 6 years ago a buddy of mine got me into waterfowl hunting and we traveled quite extensively hunting, a couple of trips to Magee marsh when he won the lottery draw for hunting there. I got into waterfowl pretty deep and invested a lot of money in it, but after 5 years of getting into arguments with other hunters trying to tie down hunting spots it turned into something I didn't enjoy any more. Now being married with 3 kids I still take them fishing in some local ponds and I have shown my oldest boy how to shoot a shotgun and crossbow, but my hunting and fishing have decreased significantly.

Ive caught Gar in the Big Walnut spillway below Hoover Dam in Cbus. Once had one on line and another one bit into it and couldn't let go and landed 'em both. The bigger fish looks like a Buffalo Sucker rather than a Carp right? OnceOnce

I agree, it doesn't have the orangish color most carp have

Any of you Ohio River guys ever caught a paddlefish? My grandpa has pics of catching paddles and sturgeons in the Ohio from the 40s. Haven't heard anyone landing one in years but they gotta still be in there you'd think.

I've never caught any there. Not sure if anybody I know has. Have heard stories from welders at the Hannibal Locks & Dam about them seeing catfish down there that were bigger than them.

Don't hunt because I won't kill what I won't eat. But support those who do...especially the Bambi hunters. Every deer I see in the back of a pick-up truck is one less deer I have to dodge when I'm driving.
I have fished but think it's largely boring.

I'm a hunter. Not a very avid one, but I really like to.
Mostly deer, but I've dabbled in varmint too. I think this year I'll get into some fowl too. I've only turkey hunted once.
I enjoy shooting, in general.

Everything I kill, I eat. If for some reason I won't, I give I to somebody who will. I assume its that way for most hunters.believer;1481983 wrote:Don't hunt because I won't kill what I won't eat. Was back home last night and shot my friends AK-47 and Russian WW2 sniper rifle (forget the name). Was at a local shooting range and watched some guy shoot a Barrett .50 cal as well

Same here (minus varmint). Went squirrel hunting last year, got enough to have a meal. Tried it, wasn't a fan. So won't be hunting them anymore.Pick6;1482025 wrote:Everything I kill, I eat. If for some reason I won't, I give I to somebody who will. I assume its that way for most hunters.
