Figured it'd be nice to have a separate thread for trades, trade rumors and the like, to make talk about that easier to find.

Might be a quiet thread, since it's questionable how many teams will be major salary dumpers (beside the Cubs, who have dumped Garza to the Rangers and Feldman to the Orioles, so far).

And some teams seem to have unrealistic expectations. Such as the White Sox. Read this morning they turned down a trade with the Cards that would have gotten them one of baseball's top pitching prospects in return for overpriced, light-hitting, never-won-a-Gold-Glove 32-year-old Alexei Ramirez. Hearing that makes me even less happy about those times I've read the Pirates might be interested in Alex Rios for outfield depth.

If they turned that down for Alexei, I'd love to see the Tribe offer up Asdrubal. They could get even more..

IMO Asdrubal isn't going anywhere as long as the Tribe are contending. Especially with Lindor being a year away from being ready to play in the show. Plus I really believe he is going to take off with the bat. He has been hitting the ball with authority since the all star break.

Honestly I think we see lindor pretty damn soon. A pro scout I talked to at one of lindors games said the plan for the Indians is to get lindor called up by September.,especially the way he had hitting in aa. Honestly it would be smart to move drubs now. Have avilis play everyday for a couple weeks and then call up lindor. Lindor could be that huge spark the tribe needs

Great deal for yanks as cubs will eat most of his salary.

Definitely bittersweet. He's a perfect fit for the Cubs at this current time in their franchise. He epitomizes basically everything they have been for the last few years.

I've always liked Alfonso. Thought he'd be better then he has been, but he will provide some pop for the yanks.

The NYY, TEX and WAS Soriano had a high contact rate and drove in runs. He also averaged 35 SB a year.

The last 5 years with the Cubs, only 32 steals, a .250 hitter and awful on D.

Pretty good move for the Cubs to at least get rid of half the contract. They aren't going to contend while he is there anyway.

Cliff Lee's name is coming up on the market with the Phillies slumping and the Braves having a 8 game lead on the division.

Way to much money owed. And they will probably want Lindor

EDIT: Speaking for the Indians, obviously.

Agreed. He isn't going anywhere this year. He will be moved in the off-season or before the deadline next year.

Curious to see if a contender makes a play for Marlon Byrd ... Mets basically signed him as a favor to his agent, and he is having a VERY good year despite being almost 36 years old. .278, 17 HR, 58 could squeeze in nicely for a team needing a decent bat and good clubhouse guy.

Doubt it. Starting pitchers are different then having a stud catcher and hitter.

Except he would be their 4th or 5th starter and Yadier is looking at NL MVP...

Looks like Cleveland is strictly looking for bullpen help mainly a lefty.
