Not trying to disparage your list, just fun conversation. Lord knows mine isn't perfect.

For sure man, but you made a valid point so I had to change it.

Kinda curious to see how many people have Dirk in their top 5 PF. Couldn't figure out what to think of him.

I did but the whole list is based on health.

No one's list is perfect, there are very few that are inarguable. We're splitting hairs at every position once you get past a certain point.

That's what I mean though. Even healthy, I can't figure out if he's top 5 or not. I mean on one side he's still amazing offensively but on the other side his already mediocre defense got slightly worse than the past couple years.

Something that a lot of OCers just won't admit.

A healthy dirk has lead his team to 50+ wins every year, can't say the same for love and Aldridge. To me its no brainer

Is this list based on their entire careers? Because my whole list would be different. Or are we talking right now?

I'm under the impression we're talking about playing ability right now.

So was I, because if not, it's usually specified in the OP.

I disagree but that's why I said I'm curious to see how many feel the same way you do. Really intriguing debate

I wouldn't want Monta Ellis anywhere near my team unless he was coming off the bench.

Did people forget about Hibbert, or do you guys really not think he is a top 5 C in the NBA???

I don't think he's a top 5 center. Now if I consolidated the list and didn't have Tim duncan on top center list as an example he may make the list. But that seems pointless to me. I take you think he's a top 5 C?

For me, his lack of a mid range game, his TS% is 48%, his fouling rate, and stamina issues keep him out of top 5. Still a good player.

Not repeating a person in more than 1 position (LBJ being in the top 5 for a few as noted above already):

PG: Parker, Rose, Westbrook, Chris Paul, Curry, (I want to put Conley in here as an OSU homer pick, but I can't think of an argument as why he'd be any better than the 5 mentioned).
SG: Wade (when healthy), Kobe, Harden, Andre Iguodala, Vince Carter (Both 4th and 5th best are questionable)
SF: LeBron, Durant, Carmelo, Paul George, Pierce
PF: Duncan, Dirk, David West, Z-bo, Kevin Love
Center: Dwight, Marc Gasol, Noah, Roy Hibbert, Varejao (Complete homer pick on Andy, but he was having a hell of a season before the injury; hopefully he can pick up where he left off)

Edit:

I was surprised Hibbert wasn't making anyone's list either at center, but then as I was making mine the discussion came up.

Yes, but then again, I watch a TON of Pacers. Most everyone on here only watched them in the playoffs...though as I type that, it should be the opposite since he beasted in playoffs and, number wise, was just OK in the regular season.

I watched the Pacers and when they went inside, it was usually to West. Hibbert wasnt the go to in the post and obviously George was the #1 on the outside. So Hibbert, match-up pending, was at best the 3rd option. I think he is right there with M. Gasol and Dwight on defensive ability, and given the chance, would be right there with the best offensively also. He hits his FTs, has a jumpshot from decent range, can defend on ball and off ball, good passer. He is better than some of the guys listed, but numbers wise, he might not be (I havent looked).

Hibbert's awesome. I could easily be convinced to swap him and Noah or Chandler, but I tend to agree with COA's reasons. Hibbert could very easily be a no-brainer at this time next year.

Vince Carter?? Iguodala??

I will take Paul George over Melo almost any day, and (even when healthy) I still don't think Wade is near Kobe.

PG: CP3, Tony Parker, Westbrook, Rose, Kyrie
SG: Kobe, Harden, Wade. No one else really sticks out much.
SF: LeBron, Durant, George, Melo, Rudy Gay
PF: Duncan, Love, Aldridge, DWest, Pau
C: Dwight, Hibb, Gasol, Noah

Same here dude. There were people here in Indy that thought Roy should've been benched for much of the year, and they had a very strong case.

Like I said, those were both questionable. I still think Iguodala is a better player than most give credit because of his defense. And ya, Carter is a huge reach but I just threw him in as a filler since SG doesn't seem like that strong of a position at the moment and no one else really jumped out either. I suppose you could put Manu instead (but his play-offs really hurts his argument), or you could say OJ Mayo. But by the numbers Carter isn't really all that bad.

Also, regarding my SG's... I think Wade pre-playoffs injury was top in the league. But if he can't overcome the ailments that were killing his game in the playoffs then he shouldn't be top 5. Harden might be considered the top SG in the game next season with Kobe out for a lot of it and depending on how Wade responds. Not bad for a player barely in the top 26.
