I used to listen to country a lot as a kid b/c my grandparents loved it. I quit listening to it in the late 90's. And newer country on the radio just sounds like pop.
Are there any good new country songs that aren't pop music?
I like Jamey Johnson, Justin Moore, Hank Williams III
George Strait still makes good music

Shooter Jennings' new album is pretty good. These are the two best tracks on the album.

If you're into bluegrass at all, I've been listening to a lot of Town Mountain lately. They kind of have that newgrass hipster feel to them, but they are a lot more traditional than any of the other folk/bluegrass hipster bands out there.

Brantley Gilbert's hell on wheels album is very good. He writes his own songs too. He's more of a country rock type guy. Justin Moore is another good one. And kip Moore

I just saw Aaron Lewis in concert. It was good stuff.
His version of "Granddaddy's Gun" was real good.

Im a big fan of Aldean (yes he is a country/rock type guy), George Strait, Kip Moore, Eric Church, Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Gary Allan.
I would say country is definitely leaning more towards country/rock rather than country/pop, unless we are talking about Taylor Swift.

Luke Bryan's new song is catchy. I like it. Have you heard Florida Georgia lines remix of cruise with nelly? It's pretty bad ass
