I cant remember the last time I got a ticket. It's got to be more than 25 years ago. I did get pulled over recently for burned out License plate lights. It was late coming back from a trip up north. Received a warning and let go on my way.

I could have sworn Ohio ruled to make them illegal, or maybe it was just Cleveland? You should look into that, because there is your argument.

In DC these cameras have no cops nearby and the picture doesn't show who is driving the car. I have about a 3-4 page response with references and attachments, but the argument is summarized as:

-6th amendment, I have my right to confront my accuser
-Presumption of innocence. I am innocent until proven guilty
-With that being said, the burden of proof is on the government to prove I was the one operating the vehicle. (show me a photo of me operating the vehicle)
-5th Amendment protects me from self incrimination

Edit: not sure if it was understood, but DC you can adjudicate by mail online. In fact they don't do a in person trial, because they classify these tickets as an admin penalty.

In Ohio? Just don't pay it. They aren't run by the state or city, it's a 3rd party vendor. They can't do anything if you don't pay it.

Plus, pretty sure Ohio has ruled them illegal now. They leftbthem though as a scare tactic to get people to slow down.

That's what I thought.

December 1984 was my one-and-only ticket, 67 in a 55 entering downtown Columbus on I-70. Working nights at the post office, on the verge of being late for work. Getting pulled over ensured that I got charged with a "non-scheduled absence" when I finally got to work.

I did get pulled over for speeding one year later, going to a costume party with my GF at the time. I had on a full wolfman outfit, she was wearing a gorilla costume, and we were late for the festivities. The cop started laughing when he came over and saw our outfits, and just waved us off, saying "For crying out loud, slow down and be careful this evening". That was nice of him, he had me dead to rights.

Had maybe 6 or 7 other stops over the years, mostly tail-lights out - once because the guy said I was driving to close to the right berm - but no tickets.

Mrs. Zunardo has never had a speeding ticket. She got stopped last year in a nicer spread-out neighborhood with a winding road doing 35 in a 25 zone It looked exactly like a typical 35 zone, houses about 200 yards apart with huge lots. She's black, and the white cop let her go with a warning and no drama, so multiple social commentaries could be made there, what with all of last year's hullabaloo.

She told me the last time she was pulled over was around 1977, when she borrowed her brother's car which had expired tags. She got off with a warning, and they ticketed her brother instead.

Both of my sons had 3 speeding tickets each before they were 18. I have no idea why, but they just choose not to be cautious. They have over-confidence I never had.

Couple years ago I got 2 for the same speed. 66 in a 55. Pretty pissed about that....then last year I got a 47 in a 35-thought I was in a 45 zone but was about 20 feet shy of it. Cost me $122 bucks. Never have had a warning.........

Friend of mine got a ticket on his crotch rocket going 143 in a 55. Had a road block set up for him. I didn't believe him until he showed me the ticket. Damn....his dad made him sell the bike.

I have had several (maybe more than several), but the last 4-5 times pulled over I lucked out with warnings. I still remember the first ticket though, about a week after I got my license .....my Dad went to court with me and the judge said either $60 fine or 60 day suspension; my Dad said, "he'll take the days!". That shot the rest of the summer. :)
