If anything, Justin should develop a panel of guys to decide what to do to improve this site. I love this website. I think we all do. It gets me through my Internship days and actually is a really informative website if you wade through all the shit. But another reason this website is great is because of all the bitching and banter that goes on. It's what it was founded on. If we start banning all the original members for petty personal attacks then we are literally back to JJhuddle. I don't want that. I don't think anyone does. (sorry my computer at work doesn't do enter on this webpage so bear with me) - Like I said though, we need a combo of getting new people and keeping the veterans to make this site stay great. I started running the Sheep League because I thought it would be a way to make members have fun on the site again and keep them coming back. I invited friends to join (who have) and slowly but surely they are all starting to frequent the page more. We need to all be proactive about bringing people to the site. With that said, the reason I loved this site so much when I first joined was all the hilarious personalities that gave the site its own personal feel. We can't keep losing those guys over stupid shit. Something has to change. I trust Justin will figure it out though. I also think we should invite some of the guys who left, back, and wipe their slates clean. I miss Hoops on the Cleveland threads. He was a boss. And I'm going to miss DeyDurkies posts too.
Oh I agree that an opt-in poll is not really a good indicator of the feelings of an entiregroup as there are plenty of flaws with trying to extrapolate the results of a sample to the entirety. Now if everyone answered the poll then it would have some legitimacy.
Also, none of us moderators want this to be JJHuddle. A lot of us had our fair share of issues with the moderation at JJ, even before the mass exodus. We didn't mind having the site be a no-holds barred in the beginning, but that devolved to the point where there was very little actual discussion going on in most threads and it was filled with either personal attacks or trolling being lobbed back and forth between the disagreeing sides. And then we tried to come up with rules to curb that behavior some but still allow for general shenanigans. That's also the reason that we've tried various lenient enforcement policies (3 strike system with infractions with the initial warning infraction, creating the basement so people are never permanently gone, and even more recently using threadbans in lieu of the infractions so people aren't stuck in the basement for extended periods such as DeyDurkie and Thavoice). Even with the recent threadbannings of said, like_that, and hasbeen from the exercise/fitness thread that this "bruhaha" is all about I said that I have no problem undoing the thread ban if they can refrain from resorting to personal attacks. And I genuinely wanted them back in the thread as they were providing good information in there before things got too personal between the three of them.
But I do agree that we need to somehow be proactive to get people to view the site. As I do think it's entertaining despite it's flaws.
