Yes he was, early on...and IMO (for now at least) he's a late inning plug-in guy, or someone to give a regular the day off. Yes, Tito was forced to use him with Cabrerra out, but he's just not getting the job done, and it's hurting the team. I'll have to agree with streak about bringing Chiz up and see what he can bring to the party.

If you look at my OP on this thread, you'll see I'm good with bringing up Chiz too. BUT you are still going to need Johnny Mac to back up middle infielders....especially SS. Raburn could handle 2B....but who backs up Aviles? We are going to need MacDonald until Druby gets back.

^^I'm not as down on JMac as some on here are, as I see his experience helping to some level. Aviles as an every day player, not so much.

Agree there...he is more of a super utility guy....but he's better than what we have ready at Columbus.

I'm just interested in seeing how low his batting average can possibly go. Saw he's lowered it from the 2-31 level he was at when Pittsburgh released him thanks to an 0-6 start, so dude's reaching all new levels of bad.

What the fuck is the hate for Aviles? And struggling of late?

In June, Aviles has played in 15 games. He has a hit in 11 of them. He is 16/56 (.285).

He is also hitting .412 with 2 outs and risp.

I don't know how anyone doesn't want him playing everyday right now.

It's a long season Gomes will get his at bats mainly against lefties.

I understand that, but imo as long as we keep Santana's bat in the lineup, Gomes' defense warrants him being in there as much as possible. Also, it lets him get valuable ab's vs righthanders, which he'll need moving forward.

Santana needs to go. Put him at first and Reynolds back to third. Sorry but Chisenhall seems to always be a AAAA player. Also, Perez got slammmmmed in one inning today in AA. What a bum.

Vinnie was horrible out there. If Perez can't return to form...I say give the job to Allen and see what happens.

on Mike Aviles...the guy had some big hits last nite, and as Laley noted.... pretty good in the clutch all season.
