We'll have to agree to disagree. The other albums weren't good, but they have gotten considerably worse as he progresses. 808's and Heartbreak was fucking horrible, so I'd imagine this to be even worse.chicago510;1458621 wrote:Lol gtfo. Like Kanye or not, MBDTF was an all-timer.

I hear songs of his on XM from time to time and was thinking how well of a story-teller he is.GOONx19;1458751 wrote:J. Cole is one of the best lyricists there is. He was so reminiscent of Nas this time. I wish he could blow up like Kendrick has.

Joey Bada$$ is legit hip hop. Check him, if you haven't already.

I feel like hip hop has gotten absolutely terrible the last few years. Used to listen to it all the time up to I'd say 2011, rarely do anymore now as it's all kinda going downhill. Everyone is trying to be like drizzy pretty much

Still have Killer Mike and EL-P's "Run the Jewels" set to come out at the end of this month, and maybe....just maybe, a new Deltron album this year

So new Jay-Z in three weeks, too? I can live with that.

There's good hip-hop to be had, but to put a date on it is silly. There was bad hip-hop in 2004 and there's bad hip-hop now.Classyposter58;1458821 wrote:I feel like hip hop has gotten absolutely terrible the last few years. What makes it worse nowadays is the fact that the shitty artists form groups (Maybach Music/Young Money) and they put out terrible music together.

Early to mid-90's was the best era in Hip-Hop IMO.

I love J Cole, he's definitely blown up among music listeners but not the mainstream public to the extent Kendrick has, which is a shame. Friday Night Lights is an all time classic for me.GOONx19;1458751 wrote:J. Cole is one of the best lyricists there is. He was so reminiscent of Nas this time. All the mindless dribble in this thread aside, the album is gold.
8.5/10 from me. The production is top notch, and whether you think he's an asshole/douche/adjective you like, he's a true artist.

And J. Cole's Born Sinner is a classic. You can tell he was heavily influenced by Nas.

Just gave Yeezus a second listen. Already growing on me and honestly one of my favorite from Kanye. Driving back to Ohio this afternoon so I'll give Born Sinner a try.

Listened to it again, and I still have the same feelings as before/. The Production is the only thing thats on point. Hes a hell of a producers, but the lyrics and just how the songs flow is mediocre at absolute best.
Its like he went Andre 3000 on us. Was a great artist and lyricist, then all the sudden like went off the deep end.

It's getting great reviews online, but I'm not sure I trust critics anymore since the industry is flush with cash.
A lot of them said 808's was great too and it was awful

Always lol at Big Ghost reviews. So yeah maybe that boy Kanye takin risks… Maybe he not comfortable restin on his laurels n makin shit that muthafuckas is gon be like yooooooooooooooo to soon as they hear it. I appreciate that he tryin new things n pushin the envelope n whatever the fuck…but it dont automatically make that shit poppin. Thing is…ALL Kanye old shit always had soul to it….even that weed plate 808s n Heartbreaks had soul… Summa THIS shit reeeeaaally dont got no soul yo. I kno it aint jus me… Muthafuckas wanna connect to a artists work nahmean…. Whether its a painting…some poems…or a song or whatever whatever. They wanna feel somethin when they hear music…emotions n shit. Whether it make you wanna dance, cry or duff old people in the face. I actually HATE a lot fewer songs on this album than i thought I did tho. But I still only LIKE a couple tracks…n LOVE one joint. But see..we livin in a age where new songs, mixtapes, n albums be poppin up every .000045 seconds n not a lot of muthafuckas wanna invest they time n patience allowin shit to GROW on em. But maybe thats the bullshit that needs to stop. Maybe this was Kanye tryin to get ni**as to pump they brakes or try sumn new…like he sayin I KNO YALL LOVE TURKEY BUT YALL EVER TRIED MONGOOSE? …but we tryin the mongoose n summa us is like NAW NI**A n summa us is like OH THIS SHIT IS POSITIVELY DELIGHTFUL…BRAVO KANYE…I FEEL LIKE KICKIN OFF MY TOMS N DOIN CARTWHEELS ACROSS THIS MEADOW n shit. Some muthafuckas is gon be more open to it. Others not so much… Somebody whose opinion I respect said Kim K box gotta be trash…cuz Amber Rose inspired MBDTF. That shit resonated wit me son. But this shit? Not so much. Then again maybe Kanye not makin music for muthafuckas like me right now. Maybe he makin shit for sensitive perverted ni**as that dont like drums. Or maybe he hopin ni**as is gon follow him wherever he goin. All I kno is son aint fall off. Like…he definitely CHOOSIN to do some other OTHER shit right now… Its like when he made 808s n Hearbreak n then bounced back wit MBDTF. Whether you fucks wit this shit or not…he definitely pushed the art n the culture forward…like pullin out a kids rotten teeth n allowin the new ones to grow in. Ion personally ENJOY this shit the way I usually ENJOY Kanye albums but he definitely got muthafuckas reevaluatin shit. We reactin to it. Even the ni**as that LIKE like this music is sayin ni**as jus dont GET it n actin wild defensive n shit… Im sayin 1) Fuck yall n 2) Maaaaaaybe yall right.First time I heard this shit I was like GET KANYE THE FUCK OUTTA HERE. Now Im thinkin hol up…did I miss some shit here? Thats art right there yo.Aight peace.
I give this shit 3.5 Zeus Slaps outta 5.

I've finally made it through a couple of times now. I like 6 of the songs, really don't like 2 of them, and the other 2 are just meh to me. I don't agree with the people who are saying it's brilliant and I certainly don't agree with those making it out to be the worst thing ever. Bold, risky, sometimes phenomenal production set up some flat out awful lyrics. "In a french ass restaurant/hurry up with my damn croissant" just doesn't do it for me. But as a whole, I like the album for what it is. And for those that don't, you can be sure he'll make something completely different next time, just like he always has.
