Didn't get going far enough west. If this thing becomes a huge derecho in Chicago like originally thought it would have had some serious winds when it came to Ohio. I will say where I was last night south of Gibsonburg there were insane winds, got a 73 mph gust on my wind gauge. It was cool and the lightning was insane, but yesterday wasn't what it could have been.

I just wanna know why those tornado warned cells around 830 off to the west completely died out. They were in a great environment and just fizzled, yet 3 hours later that bow echo goes off as it gets to NW Ohio and blasts from Putnam to Seneca County specifically

Buddy of mine said that Taylor rd was covered in downed trees and branches this morning.

It's one thing to react that way, but it's another when you go to nbc4i and the first line of the story says "Strong storms, similar to the derecho that tore through central Ohio last June, tore through Central Ohio last night".

The storms that hit us were NOTHING like the storms we got last year. It was a typical fucking storm.

Better to have too much hype than not enough warning.

I laugh that people arent smart enough to pay attention to it on their own. I've lived in Ohio for 38 and ahalf of the 39 years Ive been alive. Since i was about 10 I relies that from mid may thru mid sept. that when its hot and extremely humid out that we h

lave a CHANCE of having a severe weather and possibility a tornado. So if your 10 or under i understatnd that you still need mommy to help you out alittle or if your over 10 then you are just to stupid to pay attention.

I agree with that. But you see the people's reaction all the time, especially with snow. If they are in the 6-8" inch area, they complain when they get 3", but fail to realize other places did get 6-8"

A lot of the hype this time came out of the fact of how non-eventful the weather has been to this point IMO.

Since this storm had the potential to be pretty bad (and it was in plenty of locations), and was the first one this year and it's already mid-June, it was sensible to try to break the complacency that has likely developed.

But Web is also right that those who think nothing happened if it didn't hit them directly is a dumbass

Got a little bit of twin and lightning here but not too bad so far. The worse is suppose to hit around 2-3.

. Just that the whole "weather prediction " processes is more hype than what it needs to be.

Nope. But not everyone is a trained meteorologist, and I am guessing you aren't either. The only tools the average person has is a radar, which only tells them if it will rain or not.

Have you ever used a car mechanic? Plumber? Electrician? If so, you must be dumb to not be able to help yourself.

Almost 100 Tornado deaths per year alone, not counting other deaths from other severe weather such as blizzards, heat, etc.

Yep, trying to keep people informed so that they stay safe, such a hype machine

I guess the storm overnight tore half the roof off of a Lowes in Hilliard, flooded the whole place and burst a gas line in the building
