Leake vs Liriano

Liriano might walk 7 and go 3 1/3....but he might strike out 14......gotta make him work and throw pitches.

The Reds are 1 of 5 teams Francisco Liriano has never pitched against.

Perfect game, 12 K's. Pirates win 8-0.

Leake and Liriano both thru 6 facing only 6 batters on 22 and 24 pitches. Liriano With 5 swinging Ks and a ground-out, while Leake has given up two singles, and gotten a 3-6-1 dp, and out stealing, a fly out, and two other ground outs. Now Liraino hus struck out two more for 7 in a row and finished a perfect 3 innings with a pop-up.

Reds play small ball and get a break on the ump's call. Does Brandon get an RBI, or does Cozart get a stolen base? Also when the Pirates put on the shift against a LH, they skip the 3B past the SS(which I think is a great idea) and put him on the right side of 2B. If the batter grounds out to him, is the official scoring 6-3 or 5-3?

Neither team can score. Reds got lucky with that run. Gotta say though, if Liriano throws right away, Cozart is out.

The fielder determines the scoring. It would be 5-3.

IMO, the shift is stupid...but what do I know? Votto and Bruce have hit into it every damn time...

That makes it stupid on stupid. Offense needs to take the blame by not taking advantage.

Given that Votto might be the best opposite field hitter in the game, I'm shocked teams have shifted him. It has worked for Cleveland and Pittsburgh. He's grounded out to the right side at least 4 times in the last 6 games.

Dusty. SMH.

Doesn't bunt Robinson with 1st and 2nd, 0 out. He K's.
Bunts Leake with 1st and 2nd, 1 out.

Clueless.

Leake takes advantage of 92 mph up in the zone to K Alvarez after the ump gives Leake a couple of fortunate strikes on outside pitches! Leake wih 4 zeroes and 59 pitches.

Bad call on Leake going around for strike 1.

How do Choo and Phillips have all that pine tar on the front of their helmets, yet the white 'C' is pristinely white?

After the May 8th loss to Atlanta, when Dusty let Leake hit for himself in the bottom of the 7th inning...Baker said. “I let him hit in the seventh because he was about as good a right-handed hitter as I had off the bench. It just didn’t work.”

Tonight, he has 2 on, 0 out, a #8 hitter who is a great bunter up, and he DOESN'T bunt him. Of course, that "good right-hander" was on deck.

Racist...and hypocritical.
