I believe it was MK3, but can't remember off the top of my head... but the character Noob Saibot was the bomb, and I could not lose with him. He could teleport, then hit you with some dizzy cloud or some shit, then you do some sort of mega-kick combo, and the round is done in like 3-4 teleports. I climbed my way pretty easy through the tourneys in that game.

Super Off Road: The Baja for SNES. Got that game for Easter one year and never played anything else for months.

For the PlayStation console, without a doubt Hot Shots Golf 3. It's the only game I play to this day. My friend and I used to play against each other for 24 hours straight some days. With just the right combination of Adderall and Mountain Dew, I could shoot -20 on the most difficult of courses -- none are difficult lol -- with ease.

Arcade: Gauntlet (I swear I spent over $1,000 in quarters on that game).

Probably the first addiction was Griffey baseball. Freshman or Sophomore year at OSU was Ghost Recon (I think) on the computer, played 8 v 8 multiplayer games with the suite next door in the dorm over the network. That and James Bond for 64. Played those pretty much every night.

Final Fight was my big arcade game. More towns need mayors like Mike Fucking Haggar.

Late 90's Golden Eye, Mario Party(original) and WCW vs NWO were weekend essentials. Back when you used to actually get together with your friends to play games....Not just put on your headset. Damn I sound old

Good times. I liked Wrestlemania 2000 over WCW vs NWO.

I was huge on Marvel Vs Capcom in arcade. Gauntlet and house of the dead were awesome too.

Did anyone here every play on Mplayer? It was basically a site that had a server for people to play multiplayer games. They had over 50 games (quake, command and conquer, etc), and also games you could download. There was this game they made stricly only for Mplayer. It was called warsport. I was hooked on that game for a very long time until Mplayer was bought out by game spy.
I actually tried to get back on AoE recently. It's available on Steam, but PC only.

I remember when I first started playing online. I was decent with the keyboard shortcuts, but not great. I got pwned....quickly.:laugh:

I miss the days of playing multi-player games with friends in the same room. Tons of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark in college.

I got pwned quickly at first as well, but then I played a co-op game (where you share a team with someone else). I pretty much watched how the guy built his empire very quickly, and I took off from there.

Age of Empires I, II and II Expansion. (IIE is perfect. My 8 year old plays it now. He's much more involved than I ever was. He'll ask me questions on defense or offense civilizations, certain upgrades, and benefits of a blacksmith shop juxtaposed with a university. My brow furrowed when he used "juxtaposed". I had to bust out the iPhone Dictionary app.)

Even though I had Intellivision and ColecoVision, it wasn't until my parents caved and bought me the original Nintendo system that I formed my true addiction: the Legend of Zelda. I still say it is the best video game ever made, and I am sticking to my story! I would play that game for HOURS upon HOURS with friends, and even after I beat it (and beat the 2nd quest), I would try and find quicker ways to win, etc.

Honorable mention: Mike Tyson's Punchout, Contra, Castlevania 2 (WAY better than the original), Mario 1, 2 and 3, Dragon Warrior (and much, much later Resident Evil, loved that too).

PS, did anyone ever subscribe to Nintendo Power magazine? I did ... blast from the past:

Wrestlemania was good as well. That was back when me and all my friends actually followed wrestling. Used to have the parties for PPV's and what not....nostalgia attack.

Oh yeah... PS-1 and PS-2... Absolutely LOVE Metal Gear. For me, Snake Eater was unbelievable.

Which one had the memory shape alloy key??? I think that is was set me off. And I think it was MG-1. The story line was out of control too! And having to switch controllers on the console system!?!?!?!?!?!? AAAAAH!!!!!!

Hell yeah, used to get NP! Wish I'd kept my old issues, as they'd be a trip to look through from time to time, but I was stupid and needed to clear space, so I trashed those while keeping a whole bunch of other crap.

I played all the NES games, but I wouldn't say I was addicted to any of them. My addiction came with Half-Life 2, CounterStrike, and Battlefield 2. I would be up all hours of the night playing them.

Someone will remember the name. I remember playing a game on the computer where you were surrounded by walls. They were like grey bricks and it seemed like a maze. But you fought people I think. You used the dpad to move. It was fast paced but you just kept turning all the time. I can't think of it though....
