During the novice portion (5:00-6:00pm)we will focus on developing basic skills, proper drilling technique, and having fun. Drills and games will focus on athletes developing skills and positions that create a foundation for future success. The advance session (6:00-7:30pm) will consist of technique instruction, structured drilling, situational live wrestling (focused on that day's area of instruction), and some live matches. Technique will focus on topics such at using movement and level change to create scoring opportunities, sequential wrestling from neutral (mainly tricept tie and underhook), advanced front head lock and front head lock defense, sequential wrestling from the top (lots of arm bar variations and ways to transition to other series from the arm bar), rules from the bottom, counter attacking, and much more. Guest clinicians will make appearances to demonstrate areas of specialty. This is not simply an open mat where kids will have an opportunity to bang around. The focus will be on developing new technique and incorporating it into our live wrestling now, so that it can perfected by this coming season. I invited anyone interested to come out and get better. See you Thursday.

Upset, I already talked to P and he is planning on coming and bringing kids. You guys should both bring over a car load. As far as finding it goes, I hope you are kidding. Schiller is the HUGE park smack dab in the middle of German Village. It is probably one of the easiest landmarks to locate in the city. Just sayin. Seriously, though we would love to have you and anyone you bring. See you Thursday.

Bitter, I have vacation in 3 weeks and have to shed some pounds. I will personally commit to 30 minutes of drilling if you come Thursday.

Decent numbers tonight with room to grow (we can move another mat into the room or use the gym). Novice had 10 kids 6-14. Small group but good quality for the advanced group. Included 2 state placers and a state qualifier. Multiple coaches with state placer/college credentials rolled today as well. Looking to ad more quantity and quality. Come out and get better!

Seriously, what better way to spend a Thursday night? Great technique, great workout partners, and a pretty nice facility if I do say so myself. Try and make it out next week!

We are trying to 'feature" a different clinician each week. Still to come: Jake Weisman-Riding and turning with legs/crab ride position, Jason Russell-Low singles/scrambling technique, Scott Nicola-Advanced arm bars/sequential wrestling from the top. The advanced group has had fairly low numbers but high quality competition (numerous state placers and college wrestlers). Come on out and get better. See everyone Thursday!

Last day of Club for this session. We will be featuring technique from Coach Jason Russell tonight. Coach Russell has been a huge asset to many young wrestlers this summer and I am looking forward to seeing him teach tonight. Big guys, come and work with this guy before he heads back to the Berg in a couple weeks!

It's been great having him there Bribacker. Clayton is super coachable and has been working his butt off. We are done for the summer session but will open again for the fall session. I will post the exact date when I get it.
