LOL.

I'm not talking pudgy people, I'm talking lumps. Round lazy lumps. What is it about obese people that holds them back, so they STOP GETTING FATTER? I'm watching a dude, could probably tag a 6, that is hoggin a 1 at best, and it's obviously his gf. I also have to sadly watch morbidly obese young children walk in front of me everyday.

Don't get me wrong, I know it's a physical problem for some people... Built like that. We have a husky swimmer, who I know is constantly active. But for the ones whose elbow fats touch each other... Really? Parents?

Obesity has zero to due with genetics. Human beings, for the most part, are not born broken. You can overcome a lot.

The biggest issue is that listening to government recommendations, the pharmaceutical and medical orthodoxy of today is going to do nothing but keep you sick, ensuring you are a lifetime customer.

I run a "health and wellness" committee at work. It's done strictly on a volunteer basis. I work for a huge company. I SMH just about everytime we have a meeting.

People are lazy. People are selfish. People don't think for themselves.

This is a common site at the grocery store. Every time. And then I look at what is in their grocery cart and no explanation is needed.

There are some people who do have physical problems that make them fat. But I think they all must shop at walmart.

I agree. A LOT of people are happy to take the easy way to do things.

You are right. SOME people are born with a 2/7 off-suit. However, there are thousands of people who have played that hand into a winner.

Unless you have some sort of physiological, hormonal or biological problem that is literally keeping you obese, pretty much ANY condition can be not only treated, but reversed and even cured. We're talking about something as simple and common as Type 2 Diabetes to something as serious as Cancer.

Some people will call me crazy, but I honestly believe medicine is only good for acute issues and emergency treatment.

Yeah my dad, mom and 16 year old sis are fatter than hell. They say I've got a tapeworm, then I reply no I run everyday, play golf(I walk when I do also), workout and have a physically demanding job. Good way to not get fat

I had an aunt who was overweight then she was diagnosed with a thyroid problem and put on a pill to make it act as a normal persons would and in 8 months she has managed to lose 135lbs and really hasn't changed her diet at all but is a little more active because her body allows her to be. If she didn't get blood work done she would have never known and just thought she was ment to be fat.

Not true. The gene that shows a propensity toward being overweight has been identified.

If one has the "obese gene" are they destined to be fat or can an active healthy lifestyle still result in a healthy weight?

When I said that, I meant that it CAN be overcome. Sometimes, extremes are necessary. Then again, I also believe that genetics are NOT what people usually refer to them as. Epigenetics are much more of a player in why people are obese. So yes, I will stand by my argument that genetics are not a factor.

Change your environment. Change your lifestyle. Change your hormones. Eliminate all toxins. Genetics can be defeated, at least the factors that 99.9% people blame their obesity on.

Genes mean nothing if they aren't expressed. For example...

If you can "turn off" your obese gene by moving to a toxic-free environment, eating a Inuit diet and living in a cold climate, yet you choose to live in South Carolina, eat Popeye's and smoke, it's not "genetics." Sure, you might have the gene for something, but you're making a lifestyle/environmental choice to allow it to be expressed.

Also, another issue is the last 2 or 3 generations have been plagued by many of the enviromental, hormonal and nutritional nightmares that are so common today. These people are bringing children into the world who are born with many of these same problems. So, from birth, a child might have a medical problem and may be "obese" from early childhood. The layperson will think this is "genetic", as it has been present from birth. In reality, it's not genetic, it's just a terrible environment that the child was born into and they don't know any different. As I said before, it takes that individual to do some self-experimentation and use some critical thinking to try to change their situation, not just resign to the fact that they can't change it.

I agree with everything you are saying but it is definitely very difficult for a lot of people. It's not like the odds are not stacked against the average American to pack on fat. At my office we have food options in the break room and these are really just weapons of ass destruction. Terrible food. But people just want to grab a bite and get back to work. And then, most of these folks live a sedentary lifestyle and have to put in long hours and are tired when they get home. And, now there is evidence that suggests, once people start gaining weight that it is harder than previously thought to lose it. Then, you add in that the primary let loose pass time in America is alcohol consumption and it's like people are shooting up with estrogen with all this shat.

It is an uphill battle that requires more vigilance than the average guy/gal thinks they need to put in and it's hard to blame them.
