2nd amendment is no longer practical or relevant IMO. Should be amended.like_that;1439513 wrote:Oh ok, so since you saw them then that must mean the majority of gun owners who fight for the 2nd amendment are rednecks. Got it. And I have nothing...
Also not surprised my comparison went over your head. Both groups of people are fighting for a specific amendment. I guess because you aren't a big fan of guns, you can now just discredit the 2nd amendment. lolfail.
I fail to see how common sense background checks, etc... is outrageous to gun ownersin fact, it's not to most. there are a vocal minority (IE Gun Nuts right wing dumbfucks) who disagree. Glad to see that went over your head.
Back to the 1st amendment, it is censored and regulated. Bomb scenario I mentioned early, can sue for slander/libel, can't incite violence etc... Its a complete stretch to try and compare the two.

I'd probably be considered a "gun nut" by a lot of people and I think religion is stupid. I'd also be mistaken for a hipster before a redneck.

Yea I dont want ppl carrying guns anywhere int he public that I go. Own a gun on your land/shooting range fine. Guns don't need to be in the supermarket. You think that's outrageous?like_that;1439520 wrote:The post below def makes it seem like you are grouping in all gun advocates. Interesting for you to now spin it into "nut jobs." So is the first amendment. They didn't take into consideration social media, iphones, etc. It should amended.Commander of Awesome;1439521 wrote:2nd amendment is no longer practical or relevant IMO. Should be amended.

Also, I am not comparing amendments, I am comparing the fact that both groups are fighting for certain amendments. You just choose to ignorantly classify a group of people, because you don't value gun rights.

I chose to classify them based on their beliefs.I would classify anyone who is against gun background checks and allowing just about anyone to own an AK 47 as an idiot or at least clearly misguided.

Shit then, might as well let guns into courtrooms, planes, and hospitals while we're at it. Just so in the rare instance a vigilante can stop a stabbing spree.justincredible;1439532 wrote:I'll see your silly fear of guns and raise you:

Also we should always wait til the end of the 6th round for the Jets to draft a QB. Worked for the Patriots!

I am opposed to background checks because the current background checks are poorly implemented and expanded checks would not have prevented any of the recent tragedies. Politicians are trying to do something for the sake of doing something. I know they say they don't want a list of gun owners, but I don't want to even give them the chance. Even IF the current administration doesn't there's no way you can guarantee future administrations won't and it would not be hard to compile a list from the data they are going to be receiving.Commander of Awesome;1439521 wrote:I fail to see how common sense background checks, etc... is outrageous to gun ownersin fact, it's not to most. there are a vocal minority (IE Gun Nuts right wing dumbfucks) who disagree.

Not a bad argument at all. But being against new legislation because past legislation was ineffective doesn't make sense to me. We wouldn't need new legislation if the old actually worked. I would also like to add Senator Toomey (Republican) said that most Republicans voted against the gun measure only because they didnt' want to be seen working with Obama. Talk about a fucking joke.

That's what happens when our leader and media creates a "us v.s. them" culture over past 4.5 years.Commander of Awesome;1439549 wrote:I would also like to add Senator Toomey (Republican) said that most Republicans voted against the gun measure only because they didnt' want to be seen working with Obama. Couldn't be further from the truth. GOP has been increasingly going down the ultra conservative side of the spectrum due to religious wing nuts in the midwest and south. Is it "our leader and media" only? If you look at that quote, kinda seems to me like the GOP is leading the way in that, not to mention right wing commentators: Palin, Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity. You know, the thought leaders on the Rightlike_that;1439551 wrote:That's what happens when our leader and media creates a "us v.s. them" culture over past 4.5 years.
“In the end it didn’t pass because we’re so politicized. There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it,”
That's a direct quote.
Look at quotes from the NRA convention (which included GOP senators and former prez candidates), was all about how "Liberals" are coming for guns and they're trying to keep your kids vulnerable. Quotes from paranoid morons/lunatics IMO.

And like I said, that is a result of the culture developed by our media and leader. Thanks. I am not saying the GOP isn't part of the divide, but to put all or most of the blame on them brings the lulz.Commander of Awesome;1439554 wrote:Couldn't be further from the truth. I agree, but it's not ineffective because of private sales. It's ineffective because the databases aren't up to date. Expanding the checks does nothing without good data. (Except make the list they are never going to create more complete.)Commander of Awesome;1439547 wrote:Not a bad argument at all. I don't trust them to not create the list once they have the data.Commander of Awesome;1439547 wrote:Re: the list, the bill that was voted down had a specific clause banning the creation of such list.

"The newly elected president of the National Rifle Association, James Porter II, opened the NRA's annual convention this past weekend by declaring that the debate over gun control "is not a battle over gun rights." It is "a culture war," he said, and NRA members are "the fighters for freedom. We are the protectors.”
Pretty scary rhetoric from an idiot gun nut. This lunatic is the face of 2nd amendment rights?
He continues: In the past few years, Porter has called Barack Obama a "fake" president, described Attorney General Eric Holder as "rabidly un-American," and accused the administration of making "a run on our rights," in order to "take us to a European socialistic, bureaucratic type of government."
Paranoid psycho. I'm very certain the Attorney General is "Un American". That's laughable. Be like calling me un Cleveland Browns.
